Castle Bank!!!
Well thank you fellow Disney Talkers! I'm often down when I return from WDW because I often panic that we won't be able to visit again! The cost of our average visit with everything is $6000! It's MEGA expensive visiting from the UK! However, I purchased a WDW castle themed money box during our recent visit (we returned 3/1/2011) and I've already started saving £2 coins! We're calling it our Disney Fund! I got this idea after reading your budgeting posts! Our next holiday to Disney should be Easter or Summer 2013! THANKS everyone for your ideas! Keep posting fellow Disney Freaks! 8:0) XXX

Hey guys I recalculated and it costs us $9000 not $6000! I'd forgotten to convert my £6000 to dollars! YIKES! XXX

Re: Castle Bank!!!
LOL - it's scary isn't it.
We'll only ever go to WDW for a minimum of 2 weeks. It's strange as we've gone to Vegas for a week which is a much longer flight.
By the time you take into account car rental, hotel, park passes and so on the costs gets astonomical. Even the cost of food over 2 weeks is scary.
And yet still we go.
Good luck with your saving!
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away!

Re: Castle Bank!!!
I tend to cash in any and all credit card reward points and put them towards our flights (granted they are domestic flights) and that helps a lot. I don't know if I would visit if it would cost me that much!

Re: Castle Bank!!!
Thats why we bought into the DVC so we already know our hotel stay is taken care of that cuts a good deal of the cost right there. so then we only have to do our DDP which we also get a great rate on and park tickets with a lower annual pass fee and renewal fee. It saves us a ton of money every year. We also save all change and cash it in but incase anyone is interested we move our money to an ING (orange savings account) which pays .80 apy its the best out there right now and I leave the money for our trip in there until we get ready to buy tickets for park or air and it works really well as it is not a normal bank it is all online I can't get to the money as readily it makes saving way easier!
Life is not measured by the breaths we take, But by the moments that take our breaths away!

Re: Castle Bank!!!
Gosh, we go from Mexico, and the budget for our next WDW trip is circa $18,000. That is for 7 adults and 5 children, for a week, including airfare, hotel, tickets and food. It does not cover, however, the expense of getting visas, passports, clothes, luggage needed... now THAT's why we are saving already and our trip is in 15 months! all adults are pitching in with the money, but my parents are paying for the grandkids! the children are saving, but we all decided whatever THEY save is their own spending money!
I love the Castle bank idea! I really have to look for one when we are there (God willing!) so we can start saving for our next trip as soon as we get back !!!

Re: Castle Bank!!!
I love the idea of saving up for next trips!! We save up our vacation money and spending money, in one of those 5 gallon water bottles used by Alhambra. It holds a hefty amount of money especially when we're putting in mostly silver change...hint hint lol!!

We have gone to disney four out of the last five years. The first three trips were 2 adults and 1 child. The last trip 2 and 2. We always save our coins in a Disney popcorn souvenier bucket. However we have never paid more than $3500 total for our trips.

That's not bad for 2 adults and 1 child, I wish that were the case for us next year. There are 3 adults and 2 kids in our family, that being said we are saving for sure. Our trip is already reserved and at $5,895 but worth every penny or should I say dollar lol!!
