Even with talk of the Norwalk virus, passengers are boarding cruise ships at a record pace -- 8 million are predicted this year.
It makes sense that some recognizable people will be on board, such as when Grandpa recently decided he wanted the family to get together and go on a cruise.
It would have been like any other family, except Grandpa is a former president of the United States, his son (also on the trip) is the governor of Florida, and two of the grandchildren along are daughters of the current president.
Former President George Bush started planning the family trip last spring, and he settled on Disney Cruise Line, booking Disney Wonder's three-night cruise to the Bahamas departing the day after Christmas.
A recent article in Cruise News magazine told readers about what the experience was like for the Bush family. Surprisingly, it was much like it is for the average passenger, with the Bushes enjoying Disney's "rotation dining" and taking in Disney's original musical shows.
The Bush family also showed up as required at the lifeboat drill, but with one extra touch. Former President Bush got into that special mood that prevails on Disney, and in addition to his lifejacket, he was sporting his presidential set of Mickey Mouse ears.
