Disney Cruise Lines

is there any type of a vacation package that WDW can mail you instead of having to search the cruise line website for information. My wife and I have never been on a cruise together and would be taking our daughter with us, and I am wondering if its something that an 8 yr old would like or if she would get bored. I think Castaway Cay woudl be good for her and we also have friends in Nassau that we could see while out there. The only drawback would be having to drive from Ft Laud to Cape Canaveral. Hey guys stop in Ft Laud and pick us up as you float on by!!!

So let me know if there is any type of DVD or paperwork they can mail out and if so, how to get it.

Thanks!

Mike

Re: Disney Cruise Lines

You can order a vacation dvd for the cruise line. It's usually at the bottom of the first page of the website.

I don't know much of the particulars, but your daughter would be as happy as can be on the cruise. there are so many activites for just kids and for everyone that she'll never get bored. the same goes for you, too. theres so much going on everyday that it'll fly by and be an amazing time for all

Your daughter will love it! We took my daughter when she was 4, she's an only child, and she had the time of her life. We are taking her again this March and she is 10 now. She can't wait. I think the Disney Cruise is the best vacation money I've ever spent!

Re: Disney Cruise Lines

yeah. she wouldn't get bored. I was eight when I went on the Disney cruise, and I was never bored. The kids' pool is shaped like Mickey Mouse and has a neat slide... I spent most of my time there. Plus, she can hang out with you in the Goofy pool. Then there's the kids' clubs. Tons of fun stuff to do (except at the time, I was a shy one and suffered from separation anxiety, so I didn't like that too much). There's also plenty of shows in the evening, and new movies playing in the theater. I doubt she's a basketball type of girl, but they have a court onboard (usually, that's occupied by teenage guys the entire time). She'll definately have plenty to do. I rarely get bored on a cruise, and... let's just say I don't have the longest attention span.

Re: Disney Cruise Lines

I ordered the DVD online. It arrived about 6-7 days later. Tons of information on it.

Re: Disney Cruise Lines

We picked up one of their full color brochures (small booklet) at our AAA travel agent's office. It might be a nice addition to the DVD, as their are places to jot notes, stickers for kids to use to pick out things that look interesting, etc.

Re: Disney Cruise Lines

I have tried to order this DVD on a few occasions and although it says that my request has been accepted, the DVD never arrives! I am not sure whether or not this is because they won't sent it overseas. I think I will have another go.

PS. Ok I have just looked and realised that the DVD is only available for residents in the US, Puerto Rico and Canada! D'oh!!

Re: Disney Cruise Lines

Following on from the posts below, does anyone know if there is any way that we can get the cruise DVD in the UK yet?

You can only order the DVD via the website if you are a US or Canadian resident which seems a bit blinkered to me.

The cost of changing the region coding shouldn't be an issue these days as many DVD's now have a multi region facility and many DVD's can be watched on any regions player so I'm a bit confused why Disney don't offer the DVD worldwide as they do with the WDW one.

My only other option is eBay which I'm happy to do but the DVDs don't come up too often there (there's one on at the moment but they don't menton shipping to the UK. I've emailed the seller but the auction closes in 2 hours.).

I've ordered the Birnbaum book from Amazon as we're seriously considering a cruise at the end of our vacation next year but I'd really like to see the DVD.

Finally, as it seems you can also only view the DVD online if you are a US resident (when you click on the "View e-Brochure" button, you have to fill in address details etc.) does anyone know if the podcasts contain the same thing as the DVD? Other than that, I'll have to make up a false address and try and view it online - or try and hunt down the DVD on youtube - though it's not the same as being able to watch from the comfort of your own sofa!

It makes you wonder if Disney doesn't want UK residents on their boats!

Hi! Like you, I have been unable to view the DVD, but I thought that the website podcasts were very good as is the Birnbaum book that I purchased last year. However, they are both biaised towards Disney and don't really give you any negatives (not that there are many in my opinion). I found the best source of information was good ole TD, especially when trying to decide upon which excursions (if any) to take.

We had a great time on both our Disney cruises and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to go on another. I am hoping that when the new ships are built they will send one permanently to the Med.
