Islands vs boat activities

We'll be taking our first Disney cruise this November.
I'm taking my 6 yr old granddaughter.
Does anyone know how much activities are on board while the ship is
docked at the islands.
My granddaughter is excited about all those activities and I want her to enjoy them and not miss anything.
We want to see the islands, especially Castaway Cay, but not at the expense of missing those ship activities that she's looking forward to.

Re: Islands vs boat activities

Hi there. Congratulations on your forthcoming cruise. How long are you cruising for? On the 7-day cruise there are two sea days where I am sure your grand-daughter will be able to take full advantage of the ship-board activities. Also the kids clubs open early and close late so there is always plenty going on. I am sure she won't miss out on anything whilst also enjoying the ports of call. When you board the boat you can register at the kids club and they will give you a programme for the whole week so you will easily be able to plan all the activities that you both want to do.

At Castaway Cay the kids clubs take the children for actitivies off the boat whilst you could enjoy the adults only beach (maybe).

Have a fabulous time.

Re: Islands vs boat activities

Thank you so much for that feedback. Our trip is a Land and Sea trip.
We'll have 3 days on the ship.
I was hoping that there would be activities on the ship when visiting
in particular, Nassau. I don't plan to disembark at Nassau. Heard too many
horror stories about people being mugged, etc. and w/ my grand daughter along I don't want to risk that.
Anyway. I will, of course sign her up for the kids club as soon as we board.
I know WDW inside and out, but the Ships are a totally new experience for me.

That may be a great time to just have fun in the pool as many passengers will disembark and the ship won't be so crowded.

Have a great time!

Re: Islands vs boat activities

I've been on the 3-night Wonder cruise 8 times and after the first cruise decided that I preferred staying on the ship in Nassau. There are lots of activities that day. Check the Personal Navigator for details. Castaway Cay on the other hand is a must see. Don't waste your time in Nassau. Enjoy the ship, then take advantage of your time on Castaway Cay. By the way, your granddaughter is going to LOVE the fireworks display at sea during the Pirates in the Carribean Party!!!

Re: Islands vs boat activities

Just wanted everyone to know that my WD Cruise was WONDERFUL....
What a great time. I was Blown Away by the efficiency of the cruise. I am fully aware of the efficiency at the Parks, but the Cruise line was over the top in effeciency. The CM at the Park and the Crew on the ship were just so wonderful. My granddaughter just loved every minute of it.
If anyone is thinking of taking their first cruise, Please give serious thought to a Disney cruise.......you will not be disappointed.
My next venture will be to take a Disney Adventure Trip. I'm sure the
efficiency and fun will be there as well.
