I am sure this is not the first post asking this question, but I am looking for some insight on planning a 2009 DCL 4 night cruise. My daughter will be 4 and my wife and I are in our early 30s. We are very conservative and like quiet and calm. My daughter loves the characters and we make every attempt to see as many as we can. Low crowds are a must.
We have been on two DCL trips; once in January and once in May. To be honest, I really enjoyed the January trip the best. It was the week after new years and it was less crowded (after the busy holidays and people gone back to work or school)
Even though we do not have small children, my baby is 26 year old, We had a GRAND time. I did speak to several families with small children who said the kids LOVED the activities! They have activities for all ages.
As a mentioned, I LOVED the Jan trip but I doubt any of them would be bad. We have friends who sailed in September, the stormy season, and they also LOVED it.
My husband and I have gone on several Disney cruises and every year we have gone back during the same time. It seems as though September is a great time to go. School is just starting up and parents don't want to pull their kids out so early in the school year, so the number of kids seems very low.
Each character gathers a crowd, but since they post the time/location where each one will be throughout the day, you will be able to get in line early. You will have plenty of time to see them.
Also, as a side note, you may want to bring a pillowcase to the front desk - they will have each character sign it for your daughter.

I agree with this. We go during Hurricane Season. Less crowds and less cost!
During the summer months. We have taken 1 last year in June and are going again this June. Water is warmer this time of year. In the 80s. Water in the winter is in the mid 70s. Seas are calmer during the summer months unless you have a hurricane which you would buy insurance and reschedule your cruise anyway. Warmer weather, warmer water, and always a breeze in Nassau. Cant wait to see our friends that live there. He is an ex Chaulks Airline pilot from years ago.
