Hi, my name is Loriann. We're going to Disney this July for my son's Make A Wish trip. We'll be staying at Give Kids the World Village. My question is, has anyone here had any experience with Disney Make A Wish trips?

Actually, I'm starting to think that there are some suprises in store that we're not supposed to know about till we get there. I've posted on several Disney boards, and folks that are in the know are being rather vague about what to expect. I'm begiining to think we're in for quite a treat!!
When are you all going? Did you get your wish kit?

No, I haven`t had the wish kit yet. Don`t tell me what is in it as want it to be a surprise I go in June so will be able to tell you all about it.

Sounds great. I'm looking forward to hearing some of your impressions. How old is your wish child? My little boy is eight, and he just had a clear MRI. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor a year ago this past Wenesday!! He's a miracle!!

My daughter age 3 has DiGeorge syndrome which means she has low calcium, has seizures, has a narrow windpipe and a low immune system. She has been really ill from birth has had open heart surgery and is also a miracle child. She has stopped breathing on at least 13 occasions but is definetly a fighter

Wow. my son is eight, was seven when he was dx. I'm glad we can do this make A Wish thing. It'll be neat for our kids. Is your little girl into Disney Pricesses? Do you have any other kids? I have a four yr old daughter and ten year old son. We're so excited.

I did a reply a few days ago but it didn`t register. I have 3 other daughters ages 17,14 and 12. My daughter is a winnie the pooh and friends fan, plus mickey mouse of course. We went to disney in 1997 before we had the youngest and had a fantastic time. Will be nice to see it through her eyes.

Hey y'all! I just have to tell you that you ARE in for quite a treat in WDW!!! I know several families that have been with Make A Wish to Disney! And let me tell you - it is an experience y'all will never forget - one thing I would suggest is to bring lot's and lot's of film you will take more pictures than ever before - oh, and make a scrap book as soon as you get back, take a journal with you for each of your kids - have them write down all their favorite things they did that day (if they can't write yet have them tell you their favorite thing they did that day and then color a picture to match)
This is a great way to wind down at the end of the day and also a great way to see things the way your children see it. (Another tip - this is great for long car/plane rides - have them describe their day so far) Overall - I won't ruin any of the fun - but be prepared for many fantastic magical memories!

Hello Loriann , I was searching the web for more GKTW info and came upon your post from last month. We too got a wish granted and are going to Disney and staying at GKTW. I'm so anxious you'd think I'm one of the kids. My friend went about 5 years ago and she said it's amazing. I'm always looking for more info and tips. I would love it if you share any info with me. "Space Rider" posted that she'll be there in June.. so will I!

OMG!!!! I know the feeling. I'm so caught up in the planning, you'd think this was MY wish! LOL!! You'll have to share some of the finer points. Have you made any ps for dining yet. I get to call tomorrow for the ohana Character breakfast. The make a wish coordinator said that when we call for ps(priority seating) or anything, we need to let them know we have a Make A Wish child with us.
If you don't mind my asking, what is your child's diagnosis. My son had a brain tumor removed last April, in fact, a year ago On the 4th. I hope all is well with you. If you, or space rider want to talk, my email is zello2@cableone.net or you can just reply here.

I am still waiting confirmation from Make A Wish. When I telephoned last week I was told that they are a bit behind in Florida and I hope to get confirmation this week. We go 20th June so looking forward to hearing all your details. I don`t think I mentioned before that we are in the UK.

While I don't know much about Make A Wish , I thought you would find it neat to know this- based on CM purchases for our DisneyHand logoed merchandise we raised $2,767 to go to Make a Wish and the same amount for Give Kids the World. That was from a limited time sale, not to mention all the individual donations that CMs give

I hope you all have wonderful trips! I know your kids will have a blast. Since there are a few of you going, I'll just make this part general. Let the coordinator, or Guest Relations, know your childs favorite character. If it's a face character they can get that character to know your childs name before they met so it's like they are old friends when they do get to met

We had friends who went down a few years ago through Make A Wish, they also did Disney on their own, MAW was incrediable. Your experience will be like no other. You will all be the Prince and Princess' while you are there.
