Question Christmas Pictures at Disney? Locations?

Every year we take a pic of the kids (usually in front of our tree) and use it as our Christmas card. My husband had the great idea that we should take a pic at Disney to use.

Can anyone help with locations for some shots? My girls are wearing black velvet and my son a grey sweater. I'm not sure it is worth taking these outfits the whole way to WDW for the pic, but I'm hoping there are some great spots that would make it worth it.

I like old fashioned themes and/or country backgrounds the best.

Since we have never been to Disney I have no idea of possible places for the picture.

I would REALLY appreciate any ideas or suggestions!

Aside from the various locations in the parks (around the park trees etc.), a couple of places that jump to mind are at the Grand Floridian in front of the giant gingerbread house and at the Wilderness Lodge in front of the fireplace. Another good place, this one in the parks, would be around the christmas store @ Liberty Square in the MK.

I'm sure that some other folks will be along to offer up their favorite places for holiday pics real soon.

With the dark clothing and darkness itself, it may be difficult to do this but here is an idea. The Osbourne lights include thousands of Christmas lights including a number of towering structures. It would be a really cool pic if you could get them all in front of something like that!!

A more traditional idea is to just stop and take the pic anywhere in the MK! Disney really goes all out for the holidays and every shop and restaurant on Main Street is covered in lights and garland. Its really amazing!

Also, Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party has tons or characters in there holiday wear as well so a picture taken with them would also be very special!!

I have to tell you, the same idea occurred to me - and I plan to take lots of pictures with none in mind as "THE" holiday picture for cards. I will just snap snap snap to my heart's content and then look at everything when we are done and pick the one that best captures that loving family feeling! Or, if all else fails, I will use the picture from MVMCP! At least we'll all be in it. Ha! I think it is just too much pressure on all of us to get dressed up and pose for a specific purpose when there is SO much happening and going on. I don't mind if Mickey is in our Christmas photo!

That said, I have received cards from friends who were posed in front of Cinderella's Castle and it is a gorgeous shot!

Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Liberty Tree Tavern - all great suggestions. Downtown Disney has a Disney Holiday Shop that while unconventional might have a nice backdrop. Epcot's "countries" might have a great holiday setting too. Aboard the disney railroad at MK might be good as well. MVMCP will have lots of holiday atmosphere, ripe for photos.

I hope you can get the shot you want! Good luck!

How exciting - your first trip to WDW. We have used pictures from our trip as Christmas Cards - it's really a fun way to remember your vacation and the pictures make great cards. I have a couple of suggestions. The first would be in front of Cinderella's Castle by the Partners Statue. They decorate around the Castle with poinsettas during the holidays. We love the Castle - that's the first place we look for when we arrive in Disney. Just walking down Main Street and seeing the Castle tells us we have finally arrived in Disney for our vacation. Another suggestion would be in Epcot in the World Showcase. Several of the countries have storytellers (their Santas) which tell the story of how that country celebrates the holidays. The US has Santa Claus, St. Nicholas in Germany, Pere Noel in France. It might be fun and different to have the picture taken with one of these Santas. We were at Disney World last December and all of the parks and resorts were decorated for the holidays with Christmas Trees. The Grand Floridian even has a life size Gingerbread House. You will probably find a lot of places yourself once you are there.

Thank You, thank you, thank you! Sorry it took me so long to get back. These are awesome suggestions. I have decided to leave the velvet dresses at home. Too much trouble and why torture the kids? I have written down all the suggestions and plan on trying to incorporate at least a few of the ideas into some holiday photos. Thanks again and happy Thanksgivning!

Re: Christmas Pictures at Disney? Locations?

I don't know where you are staying, but many of the resorts have great spots for pictures. The BW has the back patio overlooking the lake. The Beach Club is beautiful also. There are lots of spots at the Grand Floridian, and its so bright and beautiful there. Look at the Christmas pictures on wdwinfo.com and you may get other ideas. We took ours at the Osborne Lights at MGM. Couldn't pass it up.

Re: Christmas Pictures at Disney? Locations?

i would try one of the resorts there are so many to choose from and they are all beautiful in their own way. if your ordered the planning dvd it goes through all the resorts so maybe you can decide from that.
