Disneyland's Haunted Mansion to have overnight guests

Last year, guests of Walt Disney World were allowed to spend a night in the famous Cinderella Castle during the "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion. On August 9th, Disneyland will open the after-hours doors of another classic attraction, allowing four lucky guests to spend the night in the Haunted Mansion. The opportunity is being offered to celebrate the attraction's 40th birthday in partnership with KLOS 95.5, a local classic rock radio station. The attraction will be open as usual on August 9th, but upon closing, beds will be set up in the stretching room in preparation for the evening's guests. Anyone wondering just how frightening this experience will be can watch a live internet feed from midnight to 6:00 a.m. the night of the event.

According to those behind the scenes, it's possible this overnight stay won't be an uneventful evening. Disneyland spokesperson Michele Himmelberg states, "The Haunted Mansion is 40 years old and, like any building its age, it may be full of creaks and other eerie noises throughout the night. The guests may also be visited by the 'occupants' of the Haunted Mansion."

WOW!!!! It sounds like fun except for the part where people are watching you on the internet.

What a great idea!

Too bad it's not on Halloween, though.

How odd!

The Castle thing I get - it was in a posh, purpose built luxury appartment.

Thsi one seems to be a bed put out in the ride after hours.

I have visions of a rollaway bed being crammed in between the tracks of the ride.

I'd rather stay in a hotel!

that should be interesting. they will prolly limit them to only one set and they will have to stay there. the HM is a dangerous place. lots of machinery and other hazards.

I don't think there will be a whole lot of sleeping going on that night. It sound like they have all sorts of fun, spooky things planned to keep the guests on their toes. It will be fun to watch the live feed!

Sounds like fun, shame they couldn't save it for Halloween though, that would have been extra spooky!

That's a good point Alice! I may have to watch the live feed just for a laugh.

I wonder if they'll use night vision cameras like on the ghost hunter TV shows...
