Elderly man runs for 24 hours to send a girl to Disney World
MINNETONKA, MN (WCCO/CNN) - A 79-year-old retired U.S. Marine is running for 24 hours straight to help send a girl with cerebral palsy to Disney World.
Tom Knoll started running Sunday to help a 12-year-old named Rose accomplish her dream of visiting the amusement park. Knoll is running on behalf of a charity group called "The Sunshine Foundation."
"It's amazing a human can take the time to do this. It's hot out here and he's giving an entire day for this. And some people won't even hold the door for us," said Rose's mother, Kathryn DeWitt.
Knoll has raised $1 million for charity through running since 1976.
At the end of May, he started a 1,600-mile trek across the United States to raise money for various charities. His journey began in New Orleans and will end in International Falls, MN.

That's so much more effective than selling a baby to get money to go to Disney
