Rider swap

Hen we go in December our youngest will be 21 months and our oldest will be 5. How does rider swap work and are there only certain rides it works on?

I think it's mainly for the "big" rides that little kids are too small for. Let the cast member at the entrance know you want to do rider swap and they'll usually hand you a -fast pass like- ticket to show the cast members at loading. One of you will get on the ride while the other goes to the ride exit with the kids. Then when the first gets off, you give him the kids and the cast member at unloading will get you on the ride...

Depending on when in December you are going, you may not need to use rider swap and there may be very short or no lines at all (beginning of the month)

It is only on certain rides. Its mostly at thrill rides like everest, dinosaur and space mountain to give you an idea. The purpose is for the first parent to wait in the line and to obtain one before riding. then after the next parent can go through fast pass line with the rider swap pass with 3 more people.

Thanks. I figured it was something like that. We are going the 13th through the 19th.....I'm hoping it isn't horribly busy, but we have never been around the holidays, and this is our first time with a kid under 3.

also what we have found to be true is if there is a single rider line it is usually very very short and easier to just go through that line then let your other half go through the same line next after you are done riding we find that line to be way shorter!

This ties into advice I've given to families of four.

Split up. It's far better to split into groups of two then to try and do the parks as 1 massive unit. The rides will ask for 2 tops (dual riders) to fill rides, and it gives the kids a lot of one on one time with mommy or daddy. Switch at a late (2 - 3p) lunch, and set out back to the parks. Meet up again for the parades or fireworks, etc.

The most frustrated guests I've ever seen are those who try to do Disney as a "group".

Personally, I'd rather do WDW with my group then split up (that's the whole reason we're there- to be together).

Which we will for most rides.....except the ones our 1 year old can't ride, then we will take turns with our 5 year old......

Thanks. I guess if our 5 year old doesn't want to ride again we can do this. I'm not sure which rides he will want to do or not lol
