The best place to check out is www.tripadvisor.com I can't tell you where to stay but will tell you to stay AWAY from the Penny sleeper inn also known as the Villager Lodge, that place is disgusting, we stayed there when we went to DL and it was the worst hotel of my life!!

Dying to be at Disneyland!!
It's classified as a Moderate hotel, not an Economy, but I have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn twice, and had good experiences both times. The hotel itself is lovely, and it's located on the corner of the Disney property, within walking distance of the main gates (although a free shuttle service is available as well). There is a complimentary continental breakfast as well.

Re: I need a Safe, Clean, Cheap Hotel at Disneyland?
We stayed at the Park Vue Inn on S. Harbor blvd. It's right across the street from Disneyland. It's really basic motel accommodations with a pool and continental breakfast. It was really nice to be able to walk to the park everyday and the rates were fairly reasonable.

Re: I need a Safe, Clean, Cheap Hotel at Disneyland?
near the front of disneyland between the front gate and manchester is a Motel 6. if you book online it's like between 40 and 60 dollars.
clean safe place to sleep and shower/bathe.
I stay here when I go to DL for a week or two.
