Time up for Maccy D's at Disneyland

From the Los Angeles Times on 8 August.....

McDonald's Corp. is apparently no longer "lovin' it" at the "Happiest Place on Earth."

The three McDonald's restaurants at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim will close Sept. 2 as part of planned refurbishments, Disneyland spokeswoman Lisa Haines said Thursday.

Disney has been promoting healthier eating habits for children since the fall of 2006, when it introduced new food guidelines for restaurants and others seeking to license its popular characters.

I wonder if Disney have the same thing planned for WDW? I guess Florida doesn't have the same ban on trans fats but it makes you wonder!

It'd be interesting to see what DL are going to do about their own burger joints too!

I thought Disney was already going non-trans fat. Oh well, I'm on a diet right now but Disney will be the only place I'll be able to blow my diet to smithereens.

Are they? I wasn't aware of that. Good on them!

And isn't Disney the place for blowing the diet to smithereens? After all, how can you enjoy Disney without cramming yourself full of all that great food!!?

Oh yeah! I heard about that today! I wonder what they'll be replacing with them. But it's good that they're trying to cut down the "unhealthy".

I'm undecided on that one. Part of me thinks why on earth should a Government dictate what people eat - let the people decide.

And then part of me thinks the people obvioulsy can't decide or we wouldn't have the obesity problems that we have.

I guess a healthy burger has to be better than an unhealthy one though so why not???

Re: Time up for Maccy D's at Disneyland

no wonder... this explains why we were so disoriented
the conestoga fries wagon - gone
harbor galley (near the splash mtn splash) - gone
DCA - burger invasion - gone

at least the chili cheese fries at the Golden Horseshoe are really good!

Re: Time up for Maccy D's at Disneyland

I heard about Burger Invasion closing, and couldn't understand what on earth McDonald's had to refurbish. I'm going there in August, I'll be interested to see what it turns into. To be perfectly honest, I'm pretty happy about it. Burgers are one thing, and believe me I love a good burger, but at Disney? I don't know, it seemed to dampen the magic a little.

Re: Time up for Maccy D's at Disneyland

maybe they should have healthier-fresher-gourmet type burgers? ooh.. or In-N-Out Burger? but then again.. maybe they should have something that isn't local, like White Castle?

ok. here's what needs to be done.
In-N-Out at California Adventure
and White Castle just inside Fantasyland

animal style double-doubles & two dozen sliders for the Year of a Million Dreams!

I have to agree with you FaithAlways I always thought McDonalds kinda put a dampen on the magic of Disney. I can't wait to see what they put in.

I agree too. Disney is about Disney so why spoil it with a reminder of outside stuck in the middle.

I don't want to see McD's in the middle of Disneyland or Disney World.

I just hope that Disney replaces it with a restaurant/counter service place serving something other than burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries and hot dogs. Disney needs more food variety - particularly at the counter services places.

Yeah that's how I feel too... After all Walt didn't want people to remember the outside world when they entered his park. He wanted it to be a world of its own.

So on the whole, I will be happy with the change!!

Re: Time up for Maccy D's at Disneyland

I never understood why McDonalds was at Disney but I can't get the fantastic Monte Cristo's anymore. Disney made the best ones. We used to get them in the restaurant that is now the italian restaurant on Main Street. The raspberry sauce to dip it in was to die for. I miss it sooooo much

Re: Time up for Maccy D's at Disneyland

I was wondering why the frech fry stand in front of Big Thunder Mountain was gone.
