We will be at Downtown Disney for Thanksgiving and Blackfriday. I was wondering if anyone who lives there or has been there knows if they have sales like the stores do on either of these days. Im not sure if we would rather go for the sales or stay away because of the crouds.
Are the sales if they have them worth the crouds being worse then normal?
You are welcome. most of the places that will have Disney on sale will be off property. Most of these items are either older items or items that are not offered in the parks.
I have never shopped off site myself, but have read other reports from our members.

We've been to Downtown Disney on both of those days, and unfortunately (!) they don't have sales. Everything stays at the same price, and I think the crowds are about the same as normal.
Some of the outlets nearby have the sales and they get pretty crowded!

cmom I loved your question!!! We were in Disney last year at that time and I didn't even think about black friday sales. We will be back again this next year. Where will you be staying?
As for sales if anyone out there does no of them let us know. There are a lot of other stores at Downtown Disney other than disney.
Since we are going on the Disney cruise the Sat after I was thrilled to find rooms on Travelocity for only $32 a night. Roadway innn and such. They are just as nice as many of the ones we would of paid more then $100 a night. I just need a bed and shower. I will be busy in DTD. Im not pickey. Plus the cost of the cruise is going to kill us
I dont care where I stay as long as I know im in Disney. I was hoping some of the other stores might have some sales. Im used to getting up at 3am to go to places just for fun. I didnt figure Disney would have much or any at all but though you never know.
I was thrilled when I called to find out if anything was open on Thanksgiving Day . The lady laughed and said EVERYTHING is open,. Even she had to work this year. So now all I need to do is figure out where to have Thanksgiving dinner and how weird it will be to not have turkey. ( but I dont have to cook or clean so .
Cmom
My mother does the same thing you do and loves getting up at the 3o in the morning just to see what kind of good buys she can get. Keep in touch with me who knows maybe if we can find someplace in Disney that will do an early morn shopping special I will meet you and see what all the fun is about.
We thought about taking the disney cruise but opted not to. Instead we are taking a 7 day cruise out of Galveston this spring that way we can afford to do Disney again come Thanksgiving.
All of the Disney restaurants serve Thanksgiving meals. Try for Liberty Inn in MK. That is there normal fare and it is really good. This next year I think I will try the Garden Grill.

Unfortunatly with th rprice of the cruise we couldent get tickets for the parks so eating at one of those resturants won't happen. We have never been to any of the special resturants so we will just have to save up again and do just the parks.
I would love to meet up with you. I love to get up and shop. I hate shopping any other time but there is just something about Black Friday. Plus some of the deals are great.
I think we are going to try to reserve The Rainforest Cafe for Thanksgiving. It wont be turkey but somewhere special. My parents have never been there and I think everyone should go at least once.
Black Friday is the day after thanksgiving. It is when most stores have great deals on everything. It is normally a mad house of people. I used to shop them, but now I watch the madness on the news. Not as dangerous that way.
oh! and why is it called Black Friday? (anything to do with the infamous Black Monday?)
Alot of retailers in the states books run in the negitive (or red) this is the day where things change and the run in the positive (or black). Hence the term black Friday. That is one day I try to avoid anything more then grocery store.
Check up stores in Orlando, some friends were there last yer andtold us to buy the newspaper on wednesday-thrsday to check upons some sales and decide which one would be better.
We are also travelling during thanksgiving and my DH will probably check upon something for us during blackfriday while I stay with our DD.
i know this is an old thread but im not the one who brought it back lol. i know that the area stores will have their sales like the wal mart. now if i was in disney on thanksgiving and blackfriday im not going anywhere near a wal mart. i work at wal mart and i hate working blackfriday.
