I DISNEY!!
Thats a real shame about Pleasure Island, I've never used the clubs myself, but it was always nice knowing there was somewhere we could go if we wanted too, we have several friends who really enjoyed the nightlife at Pleasure Island and I know they'll be disapppointed.
My favourite bit was the digital signs outside of pleasure island at the stop lights, when they would be funny about the clubs and tell you to hoot your horn, I hope they can stay in one form or another, they make me smile!

We've been loads of times (we keep thinking we'll give it another chance!) but I have never found anything that I could say we've enjoyed.
The comedy club and The Adventurers Club just didn't do it for me (not my kind of humour at all - in fact the "comedy" club was painfully bad but I've moaned about that enough on another thread) and the other "clubs" were dead - hardly anyone in, even late at night.
The only part I ever thought had potential was the outdoor Main Stage but they scrapped that! After the stage went, the whole of PI became a characterless, atmosphere-less collection of warehouses with bright signs that always promises more than it can deliver.
Disney have tried to make a cleaned up version of a late night entertainment area and it just doesn't work. If it's an area for adults, aim it at adults - but squeaky clean Disneyfied "older family" night clubs don't do it for me (actually, night clubs stopped doing it for me when I was 18!).

I will be visiting WDW just before it closes. I am glad I get a chance to before it changes. I can say that I had a cocktail there before it closed. I just can't wait.

Here is my 2 cents on the whole thing.. Granted I have not posted in a long time basically since ive moved to orlando.
I have never been into the whole club thing until recently. My friends finally convinced me to go to PI. Honestly I can say I never realized what I was missing until now! Dont get me wrong I dont go out every day but being a premium passholder being able to go whenever I want has its great perks. Now to see that taken away to make room for more kid friendly stuff annoys me.
Please dont take me the wrong way here but people dont seem to realize that disney already has ENOUGH family friendly entertainment.
Also PI was not put in the middle of west side and market place. IT was there well before westside was added.
Disney needs to have a place for adults not everything in life has to be for the kids. If they wanted to move it I would be fine with that. Now my only options for a local are to go to City walk at universal. "ghetto" in comparison. Or to downtown orlando and I just dont feel safe in those locations.
Disney already has enough dining and shopping they dont need any more.
What hurt PI the most is when they took the turnstyles out. It no longer was a place just for adults at that point. Then you have people complaning about what its like there. Well lets face it PI was never designed for kids. When you have familys running through with strollers at 12 am that kinda kills the mood not only for the familys but for the adults wanting a night out. Even now you STILL dont have to walk through PI to get to west side there is a sidewalk outside of pi. WHile the turnstyles were in im sure everyone whined and complained they had to walk a extra 2 feet. Thanks to all the complaning people got what they wanted while meanwile alenating the adults that enjoy disney.
So for those of you saying you wish it was gone I really wish you would think of the people who do enjoy PI and will greatly miss it when its gone.
I dont expect everyone to be a fan of PI but to say disney needs more shopping and dining is absurd as there are already a ton of places to go.
Keep in mind I was not a huge fan of going out a couple years ago but I enjoy it now. Even then I would have not said to close it down.... Its just not fair to those of us whom enjoyed the nightlife disney once had.
Manniquins was rated top club in central florida year after year until the turnstyles came out.
While were at it why dont we close the adults areas of disney cruise line to make it more family friendly???? We Need more shopping and dining on DCL.
Oh well to late now...
Curt

Sorry you are disappointed, one comment you made I do agree with and that is, if they moved the PI section to some other location in whole, then made it so you had to be 21 to enter the area. Not in conjunction with one of the parks, I could see that. Once they put all the shopping and dining on either side, it sort of made it more a family place I guess. I do agree it was no place for kids in strollers, but that is my own thinking.

Hey guys, I agree with DisneyCruiser. Granted I haven't been to any of the nightclubs in about 5 years (last time I had just found out about baby #2) but I always enjoyed dancing there(not a big drinker). I know it's already a done deal but I am sick of all the shops that carry exactly the same thing. I've been noticing throughout Disney property that they all carry the same "junk". I remember years ago when we would go to EPCOT you could find interesting items from each particular country and you felt immersed in each country. MK had wonderful shops in Adventureland and now it's all the same toys and trading pins. I really don't want to see that stuff where PI once stood. I skip Westside because of that reason. Why don't they move DisneyQuest in where PI is and revamp it. It seems to be forgotten being down on the end. I'm all for change but only if it makes the experience better.
