Hanes t-shirt shop??

For those that have just been to WDW, is the design-your-own t-shirt store from Hanes up and running in Downtown Disney yet?

We were there two weeks ago, and it definately wasn't up and running then, there wasn't even any sign of it I'm afraid.

I've just checked the store locator on the Hanes website and there's nothing coming up for Disney World.

All the reports just say that the store will be opening "this fall".

I'm guessing it's not quite open yet - but who knows? Hopefully you may get a nice surprise!

Awww! I was hoping to see if this shop came anywhere near the artist rendering. Plus it would have been cool to have a "custom made" Disney shirt.

I will be going in February. I hope it is up and running then. I usually bring back t shirts for my grandchildren.

You would think they would want to be up and running before the Holiday crowds, I would guess that would be the big money time of year for any shop. I am guessing it will be open by Sep 2009, I would love input when someone does get to go there after it opens. Interesting concept a design your own T. Been doing a bit of that for some T's to make before we go.

I agree with having it ready by the holidays. Families traveling together would definitely go there and make their own special family T's.

I really dislike seeing that (sorry!).

I think there's something a bit twee about seeing families all dressed together - just a bit cutesy for me.

On the other hand, I'd much prefer to see a family who have made their own individual t-shirts together so they are all different but representative of them as individuals.

Each to their own I guess! I appreciate it would be a fun thing for kids to help design a "family t-shirt" - it's just not my thing.

Ah but, the family that loses one member of the group and you are dressed with the same T, well makes it much easier to find or describe what the person is wearing. We never dress alike except at Disney, even then we don't anymore, but let me tell you when my son was 7, it was nearly mandatory, at that tender age he thought he should be able to wander off by himself and often did. Whew, glad I at least dressed the kids the same, then I only had to look at the one child who did not wander to know what the wanderer was wearing that day.

See what I miss not having kids? It's a completely different perspective isn't it.

Sadly, my other half won't wander off on his own. I've tried but he keeps coming back!

for those of you wondering no theyre gonna redo the whole downtown disney with new stuff and some may not open tillnext november or later...i know they closed down alot of the partyin areas for the adults and now are making it family friendly...

Otherwise aren't they just adding things like T-Rex, a new stage area and the Balloon and making a few other changes (like the Hanes shop)?

I didn't think they were making major changes outside of PI.

Have I missed something?

I can live without PI on our next trip but I'd be really disappointed if the Marketplace and The West Side was also ripped up!

Winkster, it is a whole different perspective on a lot of things after you have had to raise a son like mine. He is now 16, and if I thought he scared me with his independence at age 7, well it only prepared me in a small way for things to come.

I too have only heard about PI, are there to be other major changes. I am also wondering with all the economy stuff going on just now if any plans have been changed or postponed?

You are correct. All 6 of the clubs on PI closed at the end of September. The company is putting in more shops & resturants, as apparently that is what the guests want. The stage in the Marketplace is being rehabbed and DWWOM (the scrapbook store) closed down around the same time as the clubs and will reopen next month as the Haines t-shirt store. I have heard that they are going to be putting the build-a-ear-hat in there too, but since I don't work in that shop (and haven't been to work in 2 weeks), I can't confirm. I beleive the new shop is scheduled to open before Thanksgiving. I work somewhere else in the marketplace.

Yeah, I was waiting all year just to go in that store and when I got there.....closed!

And I was wondering where they were going to put the t-shirt shop. But does Hanes mind having their shop so "out of the way"? It seemed like that shop was removed from the main flow of traffic in the Marketplace.
