T-Rex

Does anyone know if Disney plans on adding the T-Rex restaurant to its DDP?

Re: T-Rex

Disney haas no plans as of now to add TREX to the Dining plan, however, if you are an AP holder you can use that for 15% off your meal! If you have yet to eat there, I highly reccomend it! I was there when it opened and the food was amazing!! We have since been twice! LOVE the atmosphere as well! Also, last I heard Rainforest Cafe is not a part of Dining plan either. They are owned by the same company, not Disney.

I don't think any of the restaurants are owned by Disney. Even the ones in the parks. They just enter into a yearly contract to provide services. (I think)

But I had forgotten that T-Rex is owned by the same company that owns Rainforest Cafe. And they, for some odd reason, refuse to sign a contract with Disney for the DDP. That's too bad. We'll still eat there. But it would have been nice to have them on the DDP.

Re: T-Rex

I'm a little confused with this, because I've made a reservation at the t-rex and planet hollywoods with Disney reservations and I said several times that it was DDP and she said that was fine? I'm going to check again when I get home!

Re: T-Rex

You probably should call just to make sure that everything is fine with the reservations. I do know that you can make reservations through Disney since we did so last year for Rainforest Cafe in AK. However, as for now, they are not part of the DDP.

And in my opinion, Yak & Yeti is significantly superior!

Having said that, T-Rex was good too - a bit of a surprise in fact.

Rainforest Cafe though? BLEURGH!!

Never been to Yak and Yeti, I don't think that my kids would like it... however, I totally agree on RC, that place stinks! As for T-Rex we were there when it opened and LOVED it! We try and go every other trip! The food is good and the kids LOVE it!

I actually read on one of the other boards that Disney owns the majority of it's restaurants in the parks, but the ones they don't will never become a part of the DDP because it would be to costly for Disney!

Re: T-Rex

Yak and Yeti is a DDP restaurant and I don't believe it's a Disney owned place. But I can say that they are very clear what you can and can't get. They seemed to be the pickiest locale for making sure the DDP is right.

We really enjoy Y&Y, and go back regularly.

Re: T-Rex

Yak-Yeti, Rainforest, and T-Rex are all owned by Landrys, which is why the arrangment with DDP is a little different. Most if not all others are owned by Disney if they are in the parks, the only one I know of which is not is Tutto Italia in Epcot (the French one in Epcot may not be as well). If they are not owned by Disney it's pretty much up to them how they handle the DDP.

It's a new(ish) restaurant at Downtown Disney, owned by Landrys - the same people that own the Rainforest Cafe (bleurgh!).

Details here...

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/trave...4815465.column

It's not a bad restaurant at all. Food is ok, service for us was good (although we ate at the bar so there was a barman there at all times), the decor is pretty amazing and there's an asteroid strike as regular as clockwork!

Re: T-Rex

Hey no probs. You're welcome!

If you get chance, I'd recommend visiting just for the experience. Far better than the Rainforest.
