Hi everyone!
We are gearing up for our next trip, which is less than 3 weeks away!!
We are spending our first day at Downtown Disney. I was wondering what might top your lists as the must do's or must see for DTD. We will hit the Lego store, we are eating at Capt. jacks, and MAY stop in to Disney quest (we have the water parks and more option). I say May because DH really does not enjoy DQ.
Let me know if you have any tips or off the beaten path things we should be aware of.
Thanks for any suggestions

Great tethered baloon ride with some fantastic views of WDW and the surrounding area.
Also, hop on the water busses around DTD. Maybe even take the one to POR and POFQ and go exploring. POR is huge so you can spend a while strolling round, maybe watching the kids play in the playground (you have kids right? I'm assuming you do - and that they are playground age!).
Of course Cirque du Soleil is at DTD if you have the time and budget.
We love having a sundae at Ghirardellis too - but eat quick cos they melt soooo fast in the sun!
And of course it's obligatory to spend a fortune in the Christmas shop.

Besides, shop shop shop, we always like to get some ice-cream from Ghirardelli's.
I'm not sure where you are staying, but you can always take the free water taxi to visit the French Quarter or Riverside. The boat trip is very relaxing.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have done the water taxi to POFQ 2 years ago... this year we are staying at the Carribean so we will pass on the boat ride and spend time walking around.
@winkster- Characters of Flight does look pretty cool... I may have to think about that one!
I was wondering which playground you were talking about? Is it at POR or is it at DTD? Isn't there some type of water sprinkler type thinng at DTD that kids always are splashing in?
I have 2 boys ages 6 & 9 ... I already promised my 9 year old a (fairly priced) gift from Lego store if he will do Everest with me this year!
Cirque du Soleil will have to be done another year, I haven't yet convinced my DH to see it.
So i got:
Lego store
Christmas Store
Ghirardelli's
Playground?
Characters of Flight?
Any others??

When we go to DTD with kids we pack an extra set of clothes and a towel and let them play in the water.
We use the busses and the AC on them is cold if you are wet!
We like the new create your own t-shirt shop. It is right as you get off the bus...you can personalize your shirt and include the wdw logo so you know the shirt is from WDW. We have done first trips, birthdays, etc.
We also love Wolfgang Pucks Express for a QUICK MEAL on DDP, Visit the candy shop!!!!!!

There are two Disney candy stores. One is Goofy's Candy co. in the Marketplace and the other is The Candy Cauldron on the West Side. I recommend getting one of their many candy apples. They may be a little pricey, and contain more sugar than apple....but they're SO DELICIOUS!!!
Although we didn't go in there last week, Ghirardelli is always a good choice if you want good chocolate or ice cream...

I would like to try one of the pretzels though... I think I could do that with a bit more ease.
Thanks!

We love just walking around and shopping. I love just browsing all the many different stores. My teen son loved Disney Quest, for me not so much. Our favorite place to eat is Earl of Sandwich.
We have yet to enjoy some Chocolate at G's and am looking forward to the Balloon as we were unable to do it on our last visit and another first for us is we are planning to do Cirque.
Since we are planning on staying at POFQ, well a water ride to DTD is in order.

I don't know if it's still there but when I am at DTD I always stop in the magic shop for a few minutes and watch the magician perform some tricks. It's great, especially for kids.
Enjoy your trip!
