Amen brother! You said it right! Walt Disney's whole idea was to have a fun and unique place in which all families could enjoy and have memorable experiences with each other! Honestly, I dearly think that Walt didn't care about the money as much as he cared about the people! I love that! I wish Eisner knew all about that stragedy!
Who knows? Maybe Iger will think of the people more than the money for Disney. Or think of both the people and the money at the same time. Let's all keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best for Rober Iger as CEO of Disney.

I would love to see Iger make it more affordable for families and those on low incomes to be able to enjoy the Walt Disney World experience without have to into debt to do so. I'm sure these is away for Iger and Disney to come up with an economy package, so more people can go to Walt Disney World and have a magical time. I know there are so many people out there that would dearly love to be able to go to Walt Disney World, but can't because they simply cannot afford the price. It is very expensive for a family of four or five to afford to go. I feel very strongly that if Walt Disney World were more affordable more people would keep coming back especial when there are special things happening at Disney.
Totally and utterly agree with you on that one. I wish Disney still had it's own airline since airline prices have been horrendous lately. My family and I haven't been able to get out to Disneyland or World in 2 years since it's just so expensive. I don't know if Iger has any control over all of the situation but it would be nice for EVERYBODY to enjoy Disney.

Maybe Iger will make the vacations and trips to Disneyland and Disney World more affordable for us Disney fans. That way more people will come to any Disney theme park.

I read the info you posted, Ed. That shows proof that Iger has a very big heart for us Disney fans and for Disney itself. I look forward on what he will do for Disney. Whatever else Iger announces he'll do sometime in the future, mention it here. Thanks Ed.

Well yes, of course DL is cheaper - it's a whole lot smaller.
Expecting the tickets to be the same price for both WDW and DL is a little like expecting to get a jumbo diet coke for the same price you did the smallest size diet coke. You expect to pay more when you get more.
As for the prices soaring? I love the way everyone keeps saying that the biggest problem with Eisner was the money he didn't pour into the parks (well, the biggest problem aside from the way he handeled the movie end of things - and shame on him, after all he got his big start in movies) - and then people complain when the raise the prices. Simple rule of business
1.) Set your prices to cover what you're spending - so if you want them to spend more on the parks expect them to raise the price of tickets and such to keep them moving and
2.) After you make sure you've set prices where you can cover operating expenses hike them up again to make blessed sure that everyone who has a peice of the pie gets a hefty profit. Nothing wrong with that - that's just business. Walt himself was rumored to have made a couple of ethicaly questionable deals to stay ahead in the money game. Remember he started from somewhere near the poverty line and became extremly wealthy - creating an empire strong enough in fact to keep his descendants very comfortable long after he left this world.
I rather like the idea of adding more money to the parks - but I don't mind seeing that reflected in the prices. After all you get what you pay for.
Re: 2006--The year Robert Iger takes place as CEO of Disney.
In Eisner's defense, had he and Wells not created such expansion and growth by not only adding theme parks and more resorts but also in more movie studios and such; Disney would have been and has been prime for a takeover and the Disney we knew long ago and the Disney we should be thankful to have now, would simply not exist. Pieces and parts would have been sold off to any yahoo with money. Iger should continue on the strategy of expansion not only to provide more opportunities for more people all around the world to enjoy Disney, but to make it near impossible for some "unauthorized" corporate takeover.
I was happy to see a thread "devoted" to Iger and the changes we would like to see him make, and for Oh wize One's who know to keep us posted as to what changes he is responsible for.
Also, Elementalfey... I'd like to know what "ethically questionable deals" you are talking about...

Re: 2006--The year Robert Iger takes place as CEO of Disney.
Well I know we would all like to see lower prices, I know I sure would! We would like lower prices in the parks, Disney stores and even on a DVD’s. I know that Bob Iger may have the best intentions for Disney and the people but it is a publicly held company. In a publicly held company you can’t take a proposal to the board that will take millions off the bottom line, because it feels good. I’m sure that he wouldn’t want to have to answer for that if it went wrong. Or, for that matter, he wouldn’t want to take millions away from other great project that we all enjoy.
What I think you’ll see is added attractions and the same Disney service we are all in love with. They will want the person going to the park to feel they are getting a lot for their dollar (but they WILL get the dollar). And they will offer discounts and packages for the bargain hunter that will not go without a lower price. If they do more than that they would under value the gate admission price and will lose fans by the thousands if they had to raise the prices again to cover expenses to keep the parks at the incredible level of service.
It is like I was telling my kids a few days ago we don’t like to pay taxes but we like the roads, hospitals, libraries and schools so we pay the price. I don’t think that $1500.00 is a bad price for a room, park admission and transportation for 5 days.
What ever the case I have to agree that Eisner with all the faults did some great things for Disney and I hope that Mr. Iger will do some great things also….we will see.
I know that lots of us Disney fans have talked about wanting more Disney clothing selections. I think that Mr. Iger could come up with some kind of idea about more selections of Disney clothing. Such as hiring some people who know how to do screen printing and/or embroidery for t-shirts, sweatshirts, denim jackets, and any other kind of clothing. Then all Disney fans can have almost anything Disney for clothing. For example: Someone is a big fan of The Little Mermaid and wants some shirts of any of the main characters of that movie. Then that person would get what he/she wants.
