Now that the years of Michael Eisner as CEO of Disney have came and went, now Robert Iger is the new CEO of Disney.
I look forward on seeing what Iger will do as CEO of Disney. I'm not sure what he'll do as CEO, but I'm expecting he'll shape up lots and lots of things for Disney. Not only that but also achieve new goals for Disney and for himself.
Mention what your expectations of Iger as CEO of Disney are. What do you expect to see while he is the CEO of Disney? Whatever it is, post it here.

Definitely excited to see how Iger handles some Disney issues and concerns, especially with the parks. I do like how he's branching into the electronic field with the pairing of him and ITunes and the podcasts and such. If everybody remembers Eisner was good the first 20 years of his "reign" so hopefully we can hope the same for Iger. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I would like to see Mr. Iger remove the booze from the parks and surrounding areas This time while we were there we seen two fights and it all revolved around alcohol. First fight was at animal kingdom and the next was at cirque du soleil.
Must I remind people that this is a happy place for CHILDREN and families.
I hate seeing the alcohol in the parks.

I think that most of that will be left to middle-management at Disney; theme park smoking is not high on the priorities of a CEO for a company this large. I think most of the changes you will see will be in Disney's public appeal and mending problems caused from the Eisner fiasco including Pixar. At the end of the day, the CEO is responsible for making its investors happy so I wouldn't be surprised to see changes in philosophy to provide greater yields for investors. The only exception I see to this is the theme park division where Disney has gotten beaten for cutting corners and hopefully Iger will be able to see the problems that cost cutting has had on the parks. Matt Ouiment at DLR has been very successful pouring money into the park and hopefully he will be the model for the theme park division.

First off, I congratulate Iger for winning the new role of Disney! It is refreshing to see somebody new in charge, and I hope that he does greatly with his new title. I do not want to see the Disney*Pixar partnership slip away (as of yet) so I am hoping that he will fix the problems in which Eisner and Jobs dealt with in the past. Disney Theme Parks are the majority, so I dearly hope that when Iger is assigned a project to deal with its theme parks, he will accomplish them with creativity and big-budgets!

I agree. I hope that Iger helps out with what Eisner messed with. One thing I was discussing with my mom last night was how the prices are skyrocketing in Disney. Of course prices soar, that's the way it is, but I am nervous that soon so many more families won't be able to go to Disney without putting themselves completely in debt. As it is I know people who have never been simply because of the cost. It's almost cheaper to do a European tour than spend a week in WDW staying in one of the Disney resorts. I don't know, the prices of the tickets going up yet again really hit me. I commented to my mom yesterday (and she agreed) that if Walt were still alive then we don't think Disney would be quite as expensive as it is. Walt's whole dream was to build a place for families to be able to frequent and have fun together. Yes, Disney still draws a huge crowd, but if the prices keep going up like they do, how much longer will it last? When the economy tanked a few years back, Disney's numbers plummeted simply because people couldn't afford it. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I have no idea what the name of the book was, it escapes me currently but it's a book about Eisner and his rise to power and the inner workings of the CEO and the backstabbing and such, I would be afraid to be CEO, although that is my dream one day.

I can agree on that. Ban alcohol and tobacco from all Disney parks!

Amen brother! You said it right! Walt Disney's whole idea was to have a fun and unique place in which all families could enjoy and have memorable experiences with each other! Honestly, I dearly think that Walt didn't care about the money as much as he cared about the people! I love that! I wish Eisner knew all about that stragedy!

See the problem is that when Walt started Disneyland, the concept of the Disney brand becoming an international conglomerate was completely out of the question. Disney Co. is no longer owned or operated by the Disney family outside of the shares they own. While it's always happier to see it run by a family like a family company, international investors own the company and will dictate its actions. Whatever will boost profits is all that really comes to mind for shareholders. The concept of making Disney theme parks an enjoyable family experience is only utilized if there can be money made from it. It's sad the way companies are run now, but pressure on both Eisner and now Iger will be intense to maximize theme park profits any way they can. Hopefully Matt Ouiment's great work at DLR will be a model the company will follow that shows that creativity and caring about what you're doing can, in the end, increase revenue.

I agree. As of last Aug. the tickets at DLR were much cheaper than the tickets in WDW. Now WDW has all these add-ons that you have to pay for as opposed to the general park hopper pass, now prices go up again?!?!?! It's obnoxious, but as long as I have $$ I will pay it to go. Unfortunately, my stays will have to be cut shorter than usual because the cost keeps soaring. When my mom and I went to DLR is Aug we were happy that the tickets seemed much cheaper than in WDW.
It's just so sad how the corporate world runs-that the Disney family only owns a portion of Walt's creation! Sometimes I wish we could go back in time and live in a time when life was more simple.
