Oh no! I've shattered your illusions now.

Just for you, I shall put on my best breeches today before going to the neighbours' tudor mansion for afternoon tea.

You could mention the conservation work done at Animal Kingdom as well as the recycling program (very topical).

What a rigmarole just to have two weeks' holiday! There are a few threads on the rights and wrongs of taking kids out of school, but really what harm can two weeks do in the whole of a children's school lifetime?

LOL Thanks!

It really is my fondest dream to move to the UK. It always has. My only problem is my wife. She hates change and wouldn't want to move anywhere except Florida because of Disney World. I just love everything about the UK. Not to mention that I have been completely disenchanted with the US ever since I got out of the Air Force after Desert Storm. I'm just kind of sick with the way things are going here.

Oh well. Maybe I can get her to move to Canada. I can tell from Disney World that they all wear red shirts with white maple leaves on them and they live in large wooden shacks with snow shoes hanging on the outside. She'll love that!

Thanks for that form JimR24. I edited it to suit our need and took out the "Educational things". I believe that my daughters teachers would just look at the form (if I left it alone) and laugh thinking "Yeah, she'll really 'learn' a lot at Disney World." I just edited it to let them know that she wouldn't be there. I could have written it on my own without a template but I intended to use that form the way it was but after I removed everything I wanted to, all I was left with was a form just telling them that she will not be there. I'm going to have her turn them in to her teachers on October 1st and thats that. If the teachers and/or school officials don't like her being out then so what? She's still going.

Re: Need some tips on educations trip form for school

No problem man. I went looking a little while back when we decided we were going to take Melanie out for a week. Alot of the form is fluff but it has some vaild points too.

And I am in full agreement with letting the teacher know. The ultimate decision is ours as parents.

Hope you guys enjoy your time in Clearwater. Next time, I would suggest Sarasota, Lido Key or Marco Island. Nothing wrong with Clearwater, it's just there is better beaches further south. And alot more shells for the kids to find.

Re: Need some tips on educations trip form for school

I'd love to visit different beaches but I need to keep it in a 2 hour time limit for the drive there. Otherwise I will need to bring money for a divorce lawyer. LOL My wife can not sit in a car/plane for more than 2 hours before she goes nuts and starts getting really cranky. I'm very glad that our plane ride is only 2 hours.

Slightly off topic (sorry!) but how long does it take to drive to Sarasota from Orlando? We have allocated a day for a road trip down the Gulf coast and I wonder how far we could get.

Re: Need some tips on educations trip form for school

Mapquest has it right about 2 hours to the middle exit of Sarasota. I would add another 20-30 minutes to make your way west to the beaches. If going to Sarasota, I would head through St. Armands circle and then west to the beaches. St Armands has some neat places to shop. My wife loves it. Clearwater (where GoofyDad is going) is nice too. On a day trip from Orlando, i wouldn't head any further sout than Sarasota. It would be too long of a day.

Here is another cool place:

http://www.floridastateparks.org/caladesiisland/default.cfm

It's north of Clearwater. You have to get into Honeymoon Island state park and then take a boat over to Caladesi. We like this place a bunch. Very relaxing ride over and a great beach.
