Here's a strange one about safety in the parks...

They check your bags when you enter the parks at WDW, but what happens when a woman shows up wearing a full burka?

I saw a woman in a burka walking around Epcot. It was weird because you have no idea who or what is under those big flowing robes. You can't even see the face. It's a little disconcerting.

Re: Here's a strange one about safety in the parks...

I guess WDW has to be careful as the wearing of a burka is, I guess, a religious thing.

How do you suggest someone might be a higer security risk because of religious clothing - and then how do you single that person out for a search and avoid suggestions that they have been selected (and therefore discriminated against), essentially, due to their religious beliefs.

Also, where do you draw the line? Long flowing dresses, baggy shirts, bulging pockets?

I'd be very interested to hear what the official line on this one is. Security at WDW must be a nightmare!

Are there any CMs viewing the thread that can help out?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying anything about the religious aspect of the clothing. But anyone could be under those robes. There's only a tiny slit for the eyes. It could be a crazy person posing as a religious Muslim. You never know.

Or they could not be wearing the burka and look like these guys:

The thing is, if there is a terrorist wanting to do harm to us by hitting someplace like Disney, then they would most likely come in looking as normal as possible and not attempting to draw attention to themselves. They would simply wear the explosives under their clothing like normal and Disney Security, not doing pat downs, would never know. These days, those extremists are even going so far as to use "Clean Agents". They are recruited jihadist people with no criminal records of any kind. Scary.

From what I've heard from those that work in security Disney uses a lot of tactics to prevent as much as can possibly be expected.

Keep in mind that a lot of the security tactics you will never see as a guest but that are pretty omnipresent (including more cameras than you can imagine and even some hidden metal detectors).

That's good to know. Sometimes the bag check people don't really look through the bags at all.
