Ok, They have threads for double and single digit countdowns....why not us?

What are you doing to help make the time pass quickly? We pop in the vacation planning dvd when we start the " we are never getting to Disney" blues. We also pop in Disney Movies.....tonite because we have gotten below the 240 mark we are going to do something Disney themed. Just call this a support thread lol...we are bound to give each other good tips!

We have our next WDW trip planned for May 2007, so I am in the triple digit category! Whenever I am missing WDW or having Mouseworld withdrawl, I look at my guide books, go online various sites (usually the official site, but I like this one too!), and watch any WDW video/dvd I have--including the WDW Weddings & Honeymoons video! I also watch any shows on tv that pertain to WDW in any way...

I have a WDW countdown ticker on my online journal, but I would like to see one on TD for families like us, too. What a great idea!

We are going in December and I did a craft with my son.

You know those paper links that you used to make to countdown the days until christmas or summer vacation? We made that, and tear off one link each day. We wrote the number of days left on the paper links before we made the chain, so we know how many days are left. We are also concentrating on one particular movie a week, getting to know the characters and coloring pictures of them and talking about our favorite and not so favorite parts of the movie.

I have a Disney Countdown wall calander at work and have totally decorated my cube with disney stuff. It is so much fun and it gets me in a great mood, Who could frown looking at the Big Cheese himself?

For those of you who would like instructions:
Supplies needed:
Different colored construction paper
marker, crayon or something else to write with
Scissors
Stapler

1. Cut the construction paper into strips (Make it your fav. colors... or all colors, be creative!)
2. Write the number of days left until your vacation on the slip
3. connect the first strip skinny end to skinny end and staple together.
4. Thread the next strip through the first strip and staple together
5. Repeat threading all of your strips until you are done
Ta-Da You have a DAYS TIL DISNEY Countdown Strip!!

The paper chain thing works out too. Only 161 links left on mine!!!! Whoo HOOO!!!! When I get the Disney Triple Digit Countdown Blues, I go and read vacation tips over and over and over again until I feel like I wrote the tip myself. Which makes me feel like I've been. A bit...I also go on the Disney Website and plan a vacation. And I watch my planning video. I think I might go watch that right now...

I like to watch the planning dvd as well !! I have been showing it to my two youngest trying to get them familiar with the rides and such. I also love to look at our pics from previous visits and see how much everyone has grown up.

I'm also in the 3 digit slump. We had our own count down going until we could make dining priority seating--180 days-- we're finally there. Up until that time we were reading menues, checking review sites, and asking opinions about all restraurants. Now I find myself working on scrap books, yes, watching all those dvd's and talking to all of you. We're also still planning what extra things we are going to do while we are at WDW. So, the count down still keeps clicking ever so slowly.....

Believe it or not that paper chain thing has help with the passing of time! Our excitement has been renewed! Just think debfen, when we reach our 1/2 way mark you should be close to the single digit dance!

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the paper chain!! When we started we had over 200 links as well, so I know how ya feel SleepinCatz. While we ( my son and I) were making the chain, we put on the planning DVD, and I had him hand me the colored strips to review his colors,(ex: "Tommy, hand me a red one. Can you find a red one?) had him point out numbers on the strips that I had already written out (ex: On strip 159, where is the 1? the 5? the 9?) to work on his numbers and hopefully, this will help him understand the concept of time a little bit, It can't hurt right? I have also made a checklist of holidays and events that we have to pass before our trip: My birthday, 4th of July, Labor day, Tommy's birthday, etc on a piece of poster board and we check off or cross off/scratch through the events/holidays as they pass.

The chain has worked wonders...Our excitement is renewed. I envy ppl that have less than 200 days...but the waiting is part of the fun and excitement lol. I know we will have a wonderful time...some days it just seems farther away than others. On those days I whip out the planning dvd or pop in a Disney movie and we are good to go. Hopefully WDW will stop making us wait for ticket and package prices...gads...that's the tough part lol.

Awsome thread. 123 days to go. I love the chain idea my kids will enjoy that. We like to look at the different web sites on Disney. Half the fun those is planning what you are going to do. The kids like to think of the parks and I like to think of the restaurants. This is our first holiday WDW trip other than halloween. We are really getting excited about it.
