Hi - and a slightly belated welcome to TD (I see this is your second post - sorry I missed your first!).
And how is sunny Hayes? I'm an Uxbridge boy originally. I passed my driving test in Hayes!
Anyway - to answer your question, we prefer the first 2 weeks of May. The weather is usually gorgeous, the humidity is lower and the crowds are reasonable.
We've done early April before and, for me, it was a little too cool, especially first thing. Some days were great but some days were a bit too chilly for swimming when the sun was behind the clouds.
We've also been in late September/early October when we found it far too humid and very stormy. We had at least 3 days of solid rain all day and the majority of the other days had long storms all afternoon (not just the usual Floridian afternoon downpours).
Having said that, you'll find loads of differing opinions on here - everyone likes different times of year for different reasons.
Let us know what you decide!

May can be unbearably hot (sorry, Winkster!). For the past week it has been in the 90s and very humid.
If you just want lots of sun, January is nice, but it can be cool. It doesn't rain very often that time of year.
It usually starts getting more bearable in November. End of November is good, provided you avoid Thanksgiving. The first week or two of December is a great time to go. It's after the Thanksgiving holidays and before the Christmas rush. And the holiday decorations are already up. It's not a rainy time of year, and the temperatures are mild, not hot or too cool.
May through October is incredibly hot and very rainy. And then there's the possibility of hurricanes and tropical storms. Hurricane season is pretty much over by November.

LOL - I did say there's loads of differing opinons on TD.
Maybe it's cos we Brits don't often get temperatures in the 90s that I like it that way in WDW. I couldn't live with it though so I'm not surprised you prefer the cooler weather.
Maybe if you lived with an English summer (English summer - now there's an oxymoron if ever I heard one) and I lived with a Floridian summer, we'd both start to feel different?

We usually go during the last week of May first week of June. It's hot. LOL Not going to lie about that. But for crowds and not taking the kids out of school it works best for us. We just drink a lot of water, buy cheap water fans at walmart and go with it. Needless to say we do visit the water themed rides more too.
I don't think there is a horrible time, the whole year is a plus and minus for weather, crowds, events...
Welcome!

When is the best time to go? All the time. But there are times that are better than others. You went in September. As far as crowds it is less then than say during June, July, around Labor day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years, Presidents Day, College Spring Break (April mid to late), Easter, Memorial Day. Other than that the crowds will be less. That is if it is a problem for you. The people who go at this time I guess isn't an issue. So you been there with less crowds (unless it was labor day), so you know whats its like. You know what Christmas and New Years is like as compared. One was hotter yet the other had more visitors. I went in May 3 times. I love it then. One week before memorial day and as we approached it that Friday the crowds started getting bigger. 2 weeks before is really nice. But if you have kids you have to take them out of school. I'm not condemning it but its a choice you have to make. My kid was in Kindergarten at the time but it was near the end of school year in New York. Mostly field trips and playing. January and February can get cold. I was there in January and during the day its fine. At night it can get cold. But again if that is what you like its a good time to go.
You said you want lots of sun...... If you want warm weather with little rain. May...........
I just came back from my trip to Disney we were there May 7-May 15 the weather was beautiful we had no rain and it was perfect for swimming. The longest line we stood in was 15 mins. Also the week after Thanksgiving is a great time to go too.
I think anytime at Disney is a great time to be there, that being said I have been there 2x in July, 1x in Dec and 1x in Sept. The Sept trip was horrible humid that year, but that just slowed us down a bit. I was younger for the 2 July trips otherwise the heat might have been a bit much.
We are planning our next trip for the first 2 weeks in May 2011, just waiting to be able to make the reservations, so of course I would suggest May!

December is the best month. It is very quiet and beautiful time for going there. There is no problem about weather and atmosphere. There is lots of people are coming and enjoy there. Otherwise, you may go in Januart, September or October. These are all nice time.

I just had my last trip the first week of May of this year. The weather was perfect but a bit hot.
I am sure you will have a great time whenever you go.
Best of luck.

Re: When is the best time to go
I dont really think there is a bad time to visit! there are always going to be minuses, but it all depends on what bothers you more, whether it be crowds, heat, being out of school, or whatever.
My favorite time to go is October. It wasnt unbearably hot, the crowds werent too bad, and MNSSHP was going on at that time, which was sooo fun! However this means you would have take people out of school.
If you dont want to worry about school, and if your schools have a mid winter break in feburary over presidents day weekend, thats a great time to go! crowds arent nearly like christmas or spring break, but there can be some crowds. however the weather is perfect and you can still ride everything you want to if you plan correctly.
hope this helped and have a magical day
