Made contact with my TA, having our dates changed from early May to May 29-Jun9, just could not pass the free dining, plus it gives us 2 extra weeks to save. PLUS now we will be celebrating my daughters birthday instead of mine (daughter is me stitch). Will not be meeting with some other members, but just with the free dining we are saving nearly $1000. Bonus is I will now be home with family for my b'day and they can give me some Disney gift cards.
Another bonus is I checked the rates for our hotels on the way to and from and those rates did not go up, actually on went down $5. So it sounds like a win win to go later. I know we will have more heat and crowds, but the savings is worth it I think.

Congrats on the savings! I'll be there June 2-11. So if you wanted we could meet up. Our free dining saved us almost 1500 and allowed us to go up to POR from POP for this trip. Love the discounts! LOL

@Disney Lovin: Thx. We ARE taking the kids, but really looking forward to this trip. My hubby said he'd get me the "Bride" ears and he'd wear the "groom" ears!!!

O.K., all you experts. I think we REALLY ARE going to get our WDW vacation next April 2-10! Now, I am re-thinking my normal strategies. I usually book through AAA, purchasing a package with a TA. Now, I am listening to you talk about putting this all together ala carte. Do you normally do this on the WDW website, call the WD Travel, or something else? We NEED the POR Alligator Bayou room for the trundle bed, would like PH tickets, and are flexible as far as the dining plan goes. Whatever is cheapest. We have done DP in the past with the snack, one food court meal and one sit-down meal per day. Liked that, but again; we are flexible. Anyone care to play expert and chime in? There is so much great info on Talk Disney that this is the first place I go for help. Thank you so much!!

LOL I tried to get the hubby to buy those and he refused. But I did get him to wear the button and I got him to dress nicely for a Narcoossee's meal, so I won't complain.

I don't know how "expert" I am...but I'll chime in. I always go with just calling disney themselves. I do check stuff out on their website, play with date, packages, etc. That way I know of some idea how much and what we're looking for. I check out the specials they have listed on the site and play. I then call them, tell them what I'm looking for and they are usually very awesome about helping out. A request like the trundle bed is something you need to make sure to mention to them at the time and they can add that to the reservation. I know I like to call and make a few (one or two) request. IE: as far from the smoking areas as possible due to allergies.
The CMs are awesome. Congrats on your upcoming trip!

MImom,
I also play around with dates and resort and all the other options on the Disney web site and then I call and talk to a CM, just incase I missed something. They are very helpful, also if additional specials or discounts come out you can call and they will check to see what your best deal is.
I noticed you are planning a trip for April - there are currently NO DISCOUNTS or specials for the entire month of April. I also believe it is peak season (or holiday) because of spring break and Easter.

I have not used a TA in the last 20 years.
I found that using mousesavers to get the latest codes is the best way.
I also start a worksheet with all the different ways to plan the trip.
Discounts depend on time of year, free dining plan and length of stay . All this can vary depending on what you plan.
Another option that can save money is to have just one of you buying an AP. In the off season you can save quite a bit on room only stays. This only helps at certain times of the year.

Ooh, thanks, everyone! My plan now is to call Disney direct, and to get on Mousesavers. Unfortunately, our travel dates are not flexible due to kids' activities, so I doubt we will find any good deals. We only have one week per year free! That is even one more reason we need a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious vacation. Gonna put my countdown on SOON! Thanks again. Still open to any more suggestions.

I see - so a free dinner takes priority over meeting me eh?
Ok - seems a reasonable swap.
Congrats on getting your DDP. Can't wait to hear what ADRs you've gone for.
Sorry, really wanted to meet, but the $$$ saving just could not be passed. That is the first thing my daughter (me stitch) said, she was disappointed, she was really hoping you would still be there by the time we arrive, but I told her no I thought you would be gone. I sure hope we can meet some other time. I will get to WDW in early May sometime, I am determined to celebrate my b'day at WDW. Instead my daughter will celebrate her b'day at WDW! She will turn 23 yrs while there.
Will post the ADR's when I get them, looking at a lot of different ADR's this time.
Would love to meet with other TD'ers as many as are there during our time.
