Free dining 2012 and weather first of Oct

Has anyone else heard about the free dining during the fall of 2012? I saw it on twitter I think but can't find anything else online yet.

Also, if the free dining pans out it looks like it's for fall of 2012 and starts Sept 30th.

How is the weather first of Oct? Still warm enough for water parks? Crowds, etc? Planning a first time "family" trip and just trying to get more info. It will be my wife's family's first time as well as our will have just turned 1 year old son's first trip! We are super excited!!

It is being offered to Disney Visa customers right now, but not to the general public. I would imagine it will be soon though. Select dates from 9/30 through Dec. 13.

We'll be there towards the end of Sept. It's our first time going that time of year and from what I hear the crowds aren't too bad. But factoring in F&W Festival (9/28-11/12) and the free dining, it may be kind of busy. Weather should still be very summer like. Have fun if you decide to go!

I just received in email about this. The free dining is only for Disney Visa card holders. However it says the offer should be extended to general public on July 12.

Don't know about dining, but I do know about crowds and weather.

It is still very warm in October usually. The average temperature for that time is a high around 85 degrees, with lows in the 60s. It still could be rainy in the afternoons, but not as bad as September. It's still hurricane season in October, too.

As far as the crowds go, the first week should be moderate, but the first Saturday and Sunday of October will be quite crowded. October 14 through 18 should be a very good time to go.

ETA: It does say for 6 nights though. I always wondered if it had to be for the length they say. Does anyone know if they give it to you anyway even if you stay more/less days?

I don't have a DVC but got free dining? How did that happen? I got a thing in the mail with a pin....we have only been once so I can't see us being on a special offer list.....our trip has been booked for weeks.
