I do hope that if the track is changed it does not become too intense. I LOVE the fun aspect of the ride and laugh and whoop all the way round it.

It is still in the rumor stage for now. Nothing official has been announced yet.

The rumors have stated that it will not happen until the end of 08.

That is great news! We are taking my niece in June for her first time. I don't want her to miss anything.

Hopefully it's still open in September! My daughter loved this ride. Last time we went, Aerosmith's RNR was closed! That was a real bummer.....

Although at first I was totally against it... I mean, the classics just keep going and going. But it's time for refurb had to come some time. I was upset when I heard DLR changed theirs and even was being stubborn about going on it, but once I got on it my faith in Disney's refurbs was renewed, like someone said. Their other recent refurbs leaved me carefree about this new refurb.

On the queue discussion: I HATE THE QUEUE. I get a migrane from waiting on that stupid line. It is WAY too dark- I can't even see anything when I look for something in my bag. The horrible graphic things have always made me dizzy, and the music makes me want to stuff something in my ears. Sorry for being so harsh, but it is the one queue that I hate.

We went to Disneyland in 05 for the 50th Anniversary and got to ride the newly reopened Space Mountain. It was amazing!

Last summer, my family went to WDW and rode Space Mountain and it was a little rough. We rode it twice. The first time I was in the back behind my sister in law and niece and loved it. The second time I was in the very front and it was a little cramped for me. I'm 6 foot.

I love the ride. It's my favorite, but it does need a little TLC.

Great... We're going in October again and this time my son would be tall enough to ride it for the first time. Looks like he'll probably have to wait until the next time we go....

The ride could certainly use some updating. It was almost painfully jerky last time we rode it. I REALLY hope for much of the 'old-school-ness' of it to stay the same, though! I love the little cars/rockets & the conveyor belt exit! AWESOME!

If Space Mtn is going through big refurb in '09, would it be fair to assume there won't be any other big attractions going through refurb at same time? I heard they will only shut down one big attraction at a time... Anyone know anything about this?

I agree that the ride could do with some updating but I hope that's all they do.

A bit of new track, some music, new decor etc would be fantastic so long as they leave the ride in place and retain that retro feel that it's got.

I know SM is old and outdated and that supercoasters dwarf it in comparison but it does have a certain charm and it's that I'd like to see preserved.

Disney does need some super-coasters but not in place of SM.

I would hope that in an update they do not forget about the younger 44" kids. A takeoff like RnRC would be appropriate for the theme but I think this would limit some younger kids to a Classic Disney ride.
