Re: Yeti forever frozen?

We were down in August and he was indeed not moving. It was the first time my daughters friend had been on Everest and was disappointed for them.
Going back in June, hope he's up and running!

Re: Yeti forever frozen?

Very happy for those who can ride the ride, hoped it would be fixed as I imagine it is one of the best parts of the ride.

Re: Yeti forever frozen?

The Yeti is about as unreliable as Test Track.

WED spent a garbagetruck load of dough on this ambitious tech, and it's just not working. With the economy the way it is, I doubt Disney has it very high on their list of priorities.
'Cuz, y'know, Stitch's Supersonic Celebration and the World Showcase Adventure are SO much more important.

I still say "EPCOT Center" and "Disney-MGM Studios", and I do it with pride.

I guess Stitch and the WS Adventure are cheap and cheerful (comparatively) attractions so Disney have something to put on their literature as "Brand New!".

I really don't care for these type of things and would much rather they spent some decent money replacing the rubbish stuff like the Tikki Birds, Stitch's Great Escape, Indy Stunt Show, HISTA and so on.

I rode EE the second week in Jan for the first time. Fun, fast ride but the Yeti definitely didn't swipe for the train. Until I read these posts, I didn't know he was supposted to move. I thought the visual of the Yeti moving when the train stops before falling backward was very cleaver, but a grabbing Yeti would complete the effect. I hope they can figure it out. Next trip I would love to get the full "Yeti Effect".

Re: Yeti forever frozen?

I would have to think that the yeti issue woudl be fairly easy to fix. Set the sensor back further for the yeti to appear. Reduce the hydrolic pressure in the pistons to allow for a reduced decent which would result in the yeti appearing for the guest just as they pass by. The Cement wil likely have to be repoured to fix the base and maybe additional support for the base to keep further seperation from happening.

I remeber when I worked at WDW that we would throw our hands out at the safety sensors in splash mountain to freeze the program so that we hung over the cliff and when reactivated we plunged down the mountain faster and unexpectedly.

Re: Yeti forever frozen?

I hate to say it but the Yeti was motionless when we visited last month.

I guess to fix it would require a major shutdown if they have to install a new base or whatever it is that causes the problem - so I wonder if they just plan to leav eit as it is?

Such a shame if that's the case.

Re: Yeti forever frozen?

If repairs would require a major shut down, then I think they might put that off until a scheduled refurb takes place. Even tho I can not ride, it would seem a shame to disappoint all those who have seen the ride on the Travel channel and expect to seem the Yeti moving. I agree it does add a lot to the experience and to have him motionless would certainly take away. Sure do hope they can fix him for all those who so enjoy the ride.

Re: Yeti forever frozen?

I don't know if this is true, but I heard the place that made the Yeti is now closed. And in order to fix him, EE would have to go down for a long time. It may just be me, but I would rather ride with him in B mode. It doesn't matter to me.

Re: Yeti forever frozen?

You know..... for a certain amount of money I could be convinced to don a Yeti outfit and swing from some rafters to scare people during the ride.
