    Lightbulb Posting Problems

Here is a thread where you can post any problems you may have with posting habits in the threads...the polls...the uploading of images for posts or for avatars, etc.

Let me start by saying that we are here at TD to enjoy ourselves...share and learn a bit...and to just have fun. The adminstrators and moderators have to constantly work very hard to maintain a level of quality that many on the internet are noticing and responding positively to. But there are rules of etiquette to posting on a board like TD...not just for your enjoyment...but the enjoyment and understanding of other members. (And please remember that everyone here at TD...Administrators, Moderators & Members, all must follow these basic rules. It's how we maintain the peace and harmony that we all enjoy while posting here. )

So here's the start of a thread addressing some of them.
    =========================================

When posting a reply or starting a thread...please take your time and type as neatly and correctly as possible. (You want people to be able to quickly understand what you are trying to say.) If you have to...type what you want and then take a moment to spell check things to make sure your post is as well spelt as possible before you click submit. If you see a majorly glaring problem after you've submitted it...you can edit your post by clicking on the little EDIT button at the bottom of your post.

Also, please try to make what you are typing legibly enough to understand. If a post is understandable to it's readers, you'll get more responses to it.

Another problem are the Polls. If you can...before you post a poll...please check first to see if a poll like the one you'd like to start has already been set up here. (We've been getting a lot of polls lately that are either exactly or almost word for word like polls already in our archives.)

Once secure with the fact that your poll has not been uploaded before...then by all means...post a poll. If one takes one's time in setting a poll up and typing as neatly as possible...as well as making sure that the choices all make sense to the poll's question being asked, more members will understand it and enjoy becoming a part of it.

We also ask that you leave a poll up for at least four or five days before attempting to post a new poll so that all the members who don't get to visit daily can get a chance to vote and enjoy your poll.

(The moderators have to go in and spell check and clarify things sometimes and this would help them greatly if it were as neat as possible before uploading.)

Submitting News means just that...news being submitted.

Before posting a news item...please check first to make sure that that news item has not already been posted either in the news folder or as a regular thread-post in another folder. If it's already been posted here...the most recent version will be deleted to minimise confusion of threads.

Also...Please refrain from posting any hellos or personal items or posts that should be in their own threads in the news folder. We have a lot of folders for just about anything you can imagine. Please make sure that you find the right threads to post in.

Also...the Just 4 Fun thread is just for that..fun stuff...so please enjoy posting in there if you have something you'd like to share that doesn't fit in anywhere else. And if you notice a thread you have started has been moved elsewhere, it has been done so to make sure it is in the right thread. None of this is personal...but the rules of the site and they must be followed to keep things running smoothly.

:mEars: Thanks Anim8EdCox! I know many people (myself included) have had difficulty with uploading images. This will be a great help! Seeing very poorly typed postings are not only difficult to understand (if possible). :tisktisk: They are a disservice to others, as well as the one who posted. :mEars:

There are always questions regarding the uploading of images to posts and avatars.

An image must be resized to 3500 KB for uploading. I suggest keeping any images you might want to share here in a folder on your desktop. Name it TDIMAGES or something you'll always remember what it is and what's inside.

Write your post and then click on BROWSE. Then make sure you go to your desktop and open your folder. Hilight your image and click okay. This will place the image info in the BROWSE box. Click submit and your image will be added to your post...if it's the right size. If it is not...then simply click back on your browser and minimize your browser window. Go to where your image is and resize it and name it slgihtly differently from the original image if you want to save it as is. Re-open your browser window and click BROWSE again and upload your new image. Click submit and you should be fine.

Avatars work the same way...but they must be no larger than 70X70 in size.

And please keep in mind that if an image, like any post that we deem offensive or inflamatory is uploaded...it WILL be deleted as soon as possible. So please refrain from causing anything like this to happen. Actions would include deleting the offensive images/posts and permanant banning from this site of the offending member and no one wants that to happen. So play nice!

You are so very welcome MG! Glad you approve of this thread and it's purposes.

Our hope is to offer a chance for any posting problems on the board to be addressed and hopefully answered as soon as possible...if not before they are asked.

And we all have typos from time to time...even moderators have to edit moderator's posts from time to time if the typos are too accidentally confusing. It is all part of keeping a board running as neat and smoothly as possible for everyone's enjoyment.

Also...I'm sure it's a bit extra to deal with...but members should check out the f.a.q. button above every page here at TD To see the answers to a lot of the questions we are re-iterating here in this thread (and many more that will improve and enhance their enjoyment of everything that TD offers it's great members.)

    Thanks guys.

Today's "Pearl of Wisdom" is a very simple one. Check the archives of threads that you have not seen before.
(Do this by clicking on the ammount of days a thread can be shown at the bottom right of a thread. Advance the amount to 100 days and click go.)

You'd be amazed at the ammount of discussions awaiting to be enjoyed! And...you'll also enjoy seing some of the history of TD as well as it's members. I'm certain you'll find a discussion that you would like to reply to or ask questions in, offer information on...maybe even more! So check this great feature out and see what you're missing...and enjoy!

    And 'idd' from me too!

So we would encourage everyone here to carefully read this thread and keep these things in mind the next time you post a 'post'.

Well...a lot of members aren't aware that they are there...and there's a WEALTH of great posts and threads to enjoy.

In fact...there's a lot of threads that have stopped that could concievably be revivied! (Plus..a lot of posts get started after they were started by someone else here and a wealth of info is getting lost while it's re-hashed again anew.)
