Re: New Fantasyland expansion photos - post them here!

This update comes from Theme park review

A minor construction fence has been put up near the exit of the former Fantasyland Skyway building, which more recently has served as stroller parking for the area. Construction should pick up soon on the creation of a new path between the exit of the Haunted Mansion and the Skyway building to help reduce the bottlenecking of crowds under the Columbia Harbor House bridge.

So this was our main reason to visit today!

Some of the first pieces of ornamental stonework on the castle retaining wall near Dumbo's current location have arrived.

D23 recently confirmed that New Fantasyland will have The Little Mermaid, Be Our Guest, Gaston's Tavern and more opened in time for Summer 2012, though Storybook Circus is expected to open a little earlier than that.

The Dumbo queue has a few little pieces that I guess were placed to entertain the young ones while waiting.

    It is a little weathered.

Maurice's Cottage has less scaffolding now, indicating that workers are nearing completion on this experience's facade.

Framing of the lift tower at the Barnstormer continues.

This will be the last time we see Dumbo operating in this corner of Fantasyland.Viewed 3515 times
This spinner will return later in 2012 with a similar look to the one already being installed in the Storybook Circus.

These pinwheel spinners won't survive the move.

The finished "control tower" for the Barnstormer has emerged from behind scaffolding with a new look and paint scheme.

In case you were wondering how not to sit.

While Mr. Stork will return on the new version of the ride, he won't be found in the form of a hanging ornament.

In case you forget what we were covering today.

Dumbo is a classic like Jaws... It'd never get removed.

I may need to rethink that statement for future use.

A more recent benefit of riding Dumbo in this location? It provides an amazing view of the work going in to bring New Fantasyland to life!

I think I just encountered a paradox. I'm riding Dumbo, looking at Dumbo. Our world just might implode.

See that giant trench they're working on? That will eventually be the Snow White Mine Train Coaster!

Are you still mourning the loss of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or of Pooh's Playful Spot? Based on this, I'd say we're getting something a bit more grand.

Beast's Castle is still looking good as the scaffolding is slowly lowered.

The inner seal of the two Storybook Circus tents has been completed. Now they'll begin work on the interior as they also work to raise the exterior tent.

So, there is at least one more casualty to Fantasyland thanks to New Fantasyland.

The original focus of Snow White's Scary Adventures was to put the guest in Snow White's role. The title character's appearances in the ride were added later on to reduce confusion from guests looking to see her in the ride.

Could you see yourself in Snow White's role?

The things we do for you all...

    Belle's Village is looking great!

It looks like the cavern doors of the Be Our Guest Restaurant are currently being framed.

It is still hard to believe that this castle was one of the first pieces of theming added to the new land.

Snow White's Scary Adventures features a classic loading station mural like many of Fantasyland dark rides. I'm hoping they'll find a way to preserve it once the ride is removed.

    So much Disney detail...

Let's take a ride for ourselves!

    Rounding the wishing well...

    I spot a jealous witch!

    Mirror, mirror on the wall...

    The ride's classic finish.

Is it time to say farewell?

    Maybe...

Dopey waves goodbye from the top of the bridge you pass under before exiting the ride.

Time for a closer look at this corner of New Fantasyland.

The external framing that was added to the Toontown tents is now complete.

This is definitely a new mountain range for Walt Disney World!

This corner of the Be Our Guest Restaurant has received a little more work.

Rockwork finishing continues on the facade for the The Little Mermaid.

Not much new over at Prince Eric's castle...

There was no shortage of workers visible on site.

It looks like we'll be seeing a completed facade for the new Dumbo interactive queue building soon.

Time for an overview of the New Fantasyland/Storybook Circus expansion.

Fastpasses for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are currently being distributed at Mickey's Philharmagic.

Exciting news? New from New Fantasyland has appeared in a corner by the Mad Tea Party. Notice the horseshoe prints and carriage tracks left behind.

The caverns are still growing outward. Notice the rock work on the bridge from Prince Eric's castle is coming along nicely.

If you look closely, you can see a few of the Dumbos that have been installed on the new spinner. The ride began very early testing this week.

Scuttle's Scavenger Hunt will take place in the right side of the caverns. There should also be restrooms located here.

The ride is far less ornamental than the version currently found in Fantasyland.

Lots of work still to be done.

The first stonework has appeared from behind the scrims of the castle retaining wall near the current Fantasyland Dumbo location.

Timothy Mouse won't be returning as a part of the new Dumbo experience in Storybook Circus.

The new Fantasyland will be opened in phases, with the first opening in late 2012, and the remainder opening in 2013.

Re: New Fantasyland expansion photos - post them here!

Good afternoon! Welcome to another Fantasyland Expansion update. As every week, OTPN has got quite a few new details to share with you, both minor and major. Let's not lose any more time:

Let's start by taking a quick glimpse at the recently-refurbished Prince Charming Regal Carrousel:

    It looks good:

Now, let's take a look at the old Dumbo, which is completely walled-off now:

    A look from above:

    The former Dumbo queue:

Parts of the former queue's cover are slowly being taken away:

All of the "arms" of the ride are currently being moved to Storybook Circus:

An Imagineer working on the ride's system:

Let's move on. The Castle Walls continue to take shape:

    The great Beast's Castle:

Very nice. More particulars should be added soon:

Let's take a quick look at Gaston's Village:

    Very nice details:

The area surrounding Maurice's Cottage is receiving some really nice details:

    The Little Mermaid's Bay:

More particulars have been added on top of the Castle's arches:

    Storybook Circus:

Notice the yellow/orange shades of the tent:

A look at the other circus tent:

    The Great Goofini:

The tower is definitely taking shape:

    The Storybook Circus train station:

In addition to that, work continues on the future location of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride:

...and this means that the Seven Dwarfs Mine shop will soon close:

And this concludes this new photo-report. We hope you enjoyed it! See you real soon!

    Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride

Even though we will post a complete Fantasyland update in the next few days, we just wanted to share with our readers a very interesting news from the future site of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride. It looks like the cement is being poured. This means that work on the actual attraction's building has officially started! Take a look:

In these pictures you can notice the amount of dirt that has been moved to make way for the base of this future family coaster (which will be fairly large, and certainly a major addition for the Magic Kingdom):

And now, here's the actual work being done on the base structure of the ride:

It seems like we won't have to wait too long before we'll see the ride's structure going vertical...

And this is all. Of course, as we mentioned at the beginning of this post, we will have a major Fantasyland update very soon, which will cover all the areas of the land that are being worked on.

Will you have to make reservations for the Be Our Guest restaurant? Will the opening be around the first of June?

Re: New Fantasyland expansion photos - post them here!

Hello, and welcome to a brand-new Fantasyland update!
As usual, OTPN has lots of things to report. Let's start right away an update from the old Skyway area:

Work is proceeding slowly in the area:

    No more stroller parking:

Peter Pan's Flight's queue line is also receiving some additions:

Rumors indicate that Disney will install some interactive elements here, as part of the $1 billion Next-Generation initiative. First, they'll work on the Fastpass queue (to widen it for disable people with wheelchairs); then, they will start with the installation of the interactive elements:

The removal of the Castle Dreamlights has finally started:

This sign is a bit misleading. Nothing is being refurbished. Something is just being removed (just kidding):

Let's move on to the former location of Dumbo - The Flying Elephant:

We'll soon have a much, much, much nicer Dumbo attraction:

The entire queue area has been removed:

The old fans and thematic elements sit there, waiting to be either sold or thrown away:

The base of the old Dumbo:

Work continues on the new Castle Walls:

    A look at Beast's castle:

A look at the fantastic rock-work:

    Gastone's Village:

There's much more to see here:

Let's continue to take a look around the Little Mermaid's area:

    Particulars of the area:

    The rock-work:

As we reported a few days ago, the foundations of the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride are starting to really take shape! The next step would be pouring the cement:

Storybook Circus is really looking good:

Old Dumbo with the new Dumbo attraction in the background:

Work on the queue area of Dumbo continues:

Working hard to make more dreams come true:

The new Dumbo attraction looks fantastic:

The themed tower of the Great Goofini has almost been completed:

Goofy is once again causing a lot of troubles!

The roof of Storybook Circus' Train Station is finally receiving themed shingles:

A look at the other circus tents:

    And that is...

Here you are finally some nice panoramic pictures of the entire Fantasyland area:

The Beauty and the Beast's area:

    Beast's Castle:

A look at the rock-work from above:

This next photo gives you a better idea of how small Beast's Castle is in reality:

    Maurice's Cottage:

    Gaston's (or Belle's) Village:

    The Little Mermaid's area:

    Storybook Circus:

Some photos of the Grand Floridian Expansion:

...and, here's a bonus: A pictures of the great Forbidden Mountain at Disney's Animal Kingdom:

And this should be all, for now. Thank you for viewing!

Re: New Fantasyland expansion photos - post them here!

Today's photo-update from OTPN is going to show you that Disney is working at a much faster pace now in the Fantasyland area of the Magic Kingdom. Some areas that were previously being left alone (like the Skyway area) are now receiving a lot of attention. Let's take a look together. It is going to be interesting.

Before starting our virtual walk-through of the land, we'll take a quick glimpse at the work currently being done to remove the Dreamlights from Cinderella Castle:

    Dream Along with Mickey:

More photos of the big crane behind the castle:

Let's now head to the far end of Fantasyland, which houses (or, used to house) the former Skyway Station:

The entire area is now only a big pile of rubble:

The only things left are the clock tower and the two entry arches (and part of the old building, which is buried under a lot of dirt):

Would you like to take a quick peek over the walls? Well, there you go:

The Skyway area looks very different like this:

The upper part of the Skyway is completely gone:

Many trees had to be cut down:

But the clock tower still stands (the clock has been broken for year, by the way)!:

Nearby you can observe an ingenuously-hidden piece of equipment:

A look at the Skyway from the it's a small world/Peter Pan's Flight walkway:

Walls are still up in front of the FASTPASS queue of Peter Pan's Flight:

Moving on to Prince Charming Regal Carrousel we noticed that the crown-like frame has been repainted:

    A closer look:

Unfortunately one or two pieces are broken and need to be replaced:

Here's the un-painted side of the frame:

These following photos furnish a better comparison of the "new" versus the "old" (it's the same old frame):

Nearby, Tigger's Bouncy Place is still closed. We don't know what to think. If they can't use it as a play area any longer, they should at least turn it into an area for the distribution of FASTPASS tickets for the ride (but that's just a suggestion. We don't know what Disney has in store for that small area):

Let's go to the Beauty and the Beast's area:

The beautiful Castle of the Beast:

Let's take a closer look at it, shall we?:

A new covered entrance has been installed (you know, for the sun...):

    More photos of the castle:

I really hope they improve the look of this tower. It just looks too "squared":

The far end of the castle:

But there's much more to see:

Let us continue or tour of the area, by directing our attention to Maurice's Cottage:

    Belle's Village:

The place is really taking shape:

The Little Mermaid's area, which includes Prince Eric's Castle:

A closer look at some of the particulars of the castle:

We love the look of that door:

    More particulars:

Our usual photos of the fantastic rock-work that surrounds the attraction' building:

Moving over to the Seven Dwarfs' Mine Ride, we "noticed" this huge crane (how could one not notice it?):

And we are finally heading toward the Storybook Circus area of the new Fantasyland (notice the man with the Mickey ears. Talking about funny juxtaposition!):

Notice the new wooden board that will soon showcase the Great Goofini poster:

Talking about the Great Goofini, there it is (pay not attention to the new Dumbo vehicles):

Dumbo's Circus Tent is really looking great:

    The queue:

A look at the beautiful, new Storybook Circus Train Station (officially called Fantasyland Station):

    The brick-work is great:

    A much closer look:

A look at the other tent (that will still be a huge retail shop):

Notice that the tent will have a double entrance:

Now, let's take a look at the new Dumbo vehicles (which are extremely similar to the previous ones):

It looks like the ears of the elephants are just a bit smaller and less pointy:

A view from above (sorry for the unexpected blurriness of the photo):

And we conclude with this panoramic view of Storybook Circus:

Thank you very much for reading!

    Storybook Circus

Did you hear the recent news? The first section of the new Fantasyland area, Storybook Circus, has now finally open to the public, and it looks swell! Everything works in perfect harmony: the colors, the theming, and especially the music, which is perfect for the area! As a reminder, we recently announced that we had to make some cuts on our personal comments that were previously included in every photo-update due to time constrictions, but all of these photos are pretty much self explanatory, and they all confirm one thing: Storybook Circus is an awesome themed area, and it's not even complete yet! Imagine all the wonderful things that await us!

But we don't want to lose any more time. Let's start our tour of this beautiful place from our friends at OTPN:

Here's the entrance of the area, which is still missing its themed tent (as seen in the artwork that was released some time ago by the Walt Disney World Resort):

    Themed Trash Cans:

Poster located at the entrance of the new area:

    Themed lights:

    Temporary cart:

Work in progress inside the new gift shop:

    Extended queue for Dumbo:

The new, great-looking Dumbo - The Flying Elephant attraction:

The future entrance of the interactive queue:

The Dumbo attraction (one of two):

At the bottom of the ride's vehicle, you can see a reference to best state in the world:

A close-up of the new water features:

The lights under the water change color, and create a nice "show" at night:

    The future FASTPASS entrance:

    Long line for Dumbo:

Particulars of the inside of Dumbo's outdoor queue:

    Nice landscape:

A look behind the walls at the second spinner:

What will we be able to see here? We just have to wait a little longer:

Here is the Barnstormer - Featuring the Great Goofini:

    New themed tower:

Themed banners around the perimeter of the attraction:

    Th ride's main entrance:

Notice that on the rear of the Barnstormer sign there is a reference to the old name of the ride! Take a look:

As you can see, it makes a reference to Goofy's Wiseacre Farm!:

    Sign:

    The main queue:

Lots of themed props can be found here:

    Notice the smoke:

    The loading/unloading station:

    Extended queue:

More themed props around the area:

    Hidden cameras in the queue:

from the exit area of the attraction, the back of Dumbo's indoor queue is clearly visible. This section should be hidden:

Stroller parking near the attraction's exit:

Let's now take a look at the beautiful Fantasyland Train Station, located inside Storybook Circus:

    Fantasyland Train Station's entrance:

Particular on top of the Train Station:

    Train leaving the station:

The other side of the Train Station:

    Themed props:

    The loading area:

    The exit area:

    Themed path:

The Storybook Circus bathrooms, located in front of the Train Station::

The pathway between Storybook Circus and Tomorrowland, with the new railings on both sides:

Another look at the new tents:

And this is all! Thank you for viewing these photos, and have a great rest of your day!

Here is a brief video that includes a sample of the really great music that can be heard near the new Fantasyland Train Station. Enjoy:

Re: New Fantasyland expansion photos - post them here!

Ourfriends over at OTPN have posted some amazing ARIEL photo shots of the new fantasyland! "Photos from above?" you may ask. "What does that mean?" Well, if you have been a follower of our site since it debuted, you know that when we refer to photos taken from "above" we mean that we had to go somewhere high enough for us to take panoramic photos of a park. In Magic Kingdom's case, we chose the Contemporary Resort. You are not surprised, are you? Well, we are definitely sure you will enjoy these photos. Therefore, let us take a look at the new Fantasyland Forest... from above:

Cinderella Castle - the gateway to Fantasyland:

First of all, here's the Beauty and the Beast's area:

    Maurice's Cottage:

    Beast's Castle:

    Belle's Village:

Lots of workers in this particular area:

Here you are a couple of larger photos to see more particulars of the area (open them in a new tab for full-size):

First of all, let us take a look at the progress that is being made in the future Tangled-themed restroom area:

A few above-the-walls photos for your enjoyment:

This area is definitely going to be great. I am sure:

Moving over toward the new Fantasyland Forest plot, we noticed that the former "Snow White's Scary Adventure" ride is now completely hidden from guest's view:

Construction walls have also been extended:

All references to the Seven Dwarfs Mine have been completely removed (that was the former name of this small store. All signs have now completely disappeared.) Currently, the store seems to have no official name:

Of course, until a new name is given to this store, it will still be called the Seven Dwarfs Mine:

Since we are speaking about the Seven Dwarfs, here's a look at the progress that has been done of the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride:

As you can see, the pieces of track that were recently installed are now being completely enclosed by walls:

This is supposedly going to be one of the drops:

Multiple people were working on this particular attraction:

A view of the ride from another angle:

The back of the Seven Dwarfs' mountain:

Nearby, we noticed that the menu of the Storybook Treats snack location is gone... once again!:

Also, Winnie the Pooh had a crazy wait time! This ride is definitely really popular:

Also, the operating times of Winnie the Pooh's new meet-and-greet location have been extended. The area now closes a few hours later, remaining open until 7:30 p.m.:

By the way, do you remember the ugly look of the building behind Pinocchio's bathrooms? Well, that corner is no longer a problem, as the building has received an extension of the rock-work:

Here's now a quick glimpse of Beast's Castle:

The rock-work is fantasmic... I mean, fantastic:

    A new arch? Possibly:

    Belle's Village (or Gaston's):

This is one of the newest buildings:

    Great particulars:

    Light fixtures:

    The Bonjour! Village Gifts shop:

Palms? Oh, yes... we are now going to visit the realm of another princess...

A very quick look at the Little Mermaid's area:

Beautiful (I know, it's redundant, but the new Fantasyland are looks really good!):

A section of the rock-work of Prince Eric's Castle has been repainted. They may be planning on using a different shade of green. Or, they may go in a completely different direction...

Work on the new backstage gates also continue:

    Moving away from the area...
