Legoland Florida: Special events set for 2012

Legoland Florida has set its lineup of special events for 2012, the first full year of operation of the Winter Haven theme park. Included are holiday observations, a party designed for girls and a birthday party for the park in October.

These events are included in regular Legoland Florida admission:

+ Lego Friends Weekend, which centers on a daytime party for girls and Lego’s new line of toys — Legoland Friends, a less-blocky set of toys featuring female characters. Look for building events, activities, games and an emphasis on individual personalities. (March 24-25)

+ Red, Brick & Boom, an Independence Day event featuring fireworks (with an assist from 3-D glasses). Look for exploding bricks in the sky. (July 4)

+ Brick-or-Treat, featuring treats, snacks, spooky surprises. (Saturdays and Sundays in October)

+ Legoland’s First Anniversary Celebration, a birthday party for the park (Oct. 15)

+ Christmas Bricktacular returns, as does the 270,000-block Christmas tree, along with Santa. (Weekends in December)

+ Countdown to Kids’ New Year’s Eve and Kids’ New Year’s Eve, with fireworks over Lake Elosie nightly and a giant Lego brick drop on New Year’s Eve. (Dec. 26-31)
