    Mission: Tables in Wonderland

Tables in Wonderland is a fabulous meal option for Disney passholders and Florida residents who visit WDW.

Here's how it works: You buy the card at Guest Services in any of the parks. The cost of the card is $75 for Disney passholders and $100 for Florida residents. Obviously, if you are a Florida resident and a passholder, you can get the card for $75. Only one card is needed per table of up to 10 people. The membership lasts for 13 months.

The card is accepted at most table service restaurants. When you present it to your server, 20% will be taken off the cost of the entire meal at your table. Your tab will automatically include an 18% gratuity. (That saves me money, too, because I normally leave 20%.)

If you are a passholder who normally spends over $375 per year on table service restaurants for your family, including character meals, you will benefit from this plan. Remember, one card can cover an entire group of up to 10 people.

Here's how easy it is to make up the cost of the card. If a passholder family of four (mom, dad, two kids) goes to Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast, they will spend $150. With a Tables in Wonderland card, $30 will be knocked off the bill and the cost of a $75 membership will be almost halfway redeemed. Just on one meal!

There are some great advantages to this plan. Unlike the Disney Dining Plan, there are no specific meals to eat. You can eat whatever you want, whenever you want, as long as it's in a participating restaurant. And best of all, unlike the Disney Dining Plan, it covers alcoholic beverages! So if you want to have a couple of drinks and an appetizer at The Wave bar, for example, it's covered.

You also get complimentary valet parking at resorts when you have a restaurant reservation. There are occasional special dining events for members, too. You must purchase tickets, but the events aren't open to anyone who isn't a Tables in Wonderland member. The March 2012 special event was a private Tables in Wonderland IllumiNations dessert party (including wine, beer, and cordials) in the outdoor area they reserve for parties in the Italy Pavilion in Epcot.

My DH and I bought the card on our last trip. After three days at WDW, we made up nearly 3/4 of the $75 membership fee. With two more WDW trips planned (for a total of about 12 days) we'll wind up saving quite a bit of money before the card expires. That's a deal we couldn't pass up!

UPDATE: Prices will go up in 2013. See post #6 below for 2013 cost of a Tables in Wonderland card.

    Great report CA!

Tables in Wonderland sounds a really good deal for someone lucky enough to be able to go to WDW as much as you!

We also love Tables in Wonderland. We usually use it on 3 different trips and saves us a ton of money. One side note: if you happen to lose the original card (which we did) they will not replace it for free. It cost $50.00. So make sure you keep it safe!

I should have put that in my report, but thanks for posting it. I keep my card in a lock-box at home!

    UPDATE: New 2013 Prices

Tables in Wonderland will have a pretty big price increase for 2013. The new cost is $100 for annual/seasonal passholders and $125 for Florida residents who are not passholders.

This means passholders will need to spend $500 on TIW restaurants to break even. Florida residents will need to spend $625.

I think even with the price increase, it's still a great value. I use it with the dining plan. You can get the discount on appetizers and alcoholic beverages that might not be included with the dining plan.

    Re: Mission: Tables in Wonderland

With three trips a year and at least two ADRs plus drinks and food at resort bars like Crew's Cup, it's still worth it for us, I think.

I didn't know you could use it with the dining plan.

    Alice and Aurora,
I have been wondering if I should do this. I'm an annual pass holder and a Florida Resident. How exactly does it work? It's only my husband and I. Do you think it would be worth it for us? You two seem to have good insight

Read the first post of this thread and that should give you all the info (except the cost has changed as I noted in post #6).

Calculate how much you spend on participating restaurants in a year. If it's more than $500, it's worth it for you. (Buy it as a passholder, not a Florida resident, because it's cheaper.)

Wow that's funny, for some reason when I opened the thread I only saw the last three post and not the first few. Otherwise I wouldn't have asked what was already answered. Lol silly me. I see the first post now though. Thanks Alice sorry about that, appreciate it.

    Re: Mission: Tables in Wonderland

    No problem!

We're going back through our receipts for the past year to see how much we spent on food and drinks. I'm pretty sure it will be more than $500. Our card expires March 1, which is during our next trip.

Usually, due to business, I will go to WDW by myself for a day or so. This year I was in the Orlando area once a month. Just myself alone, made it worth it. Then, when I would have my whole family, we always ate at the food court one night and ordered a pizza to take to the outside movie. The saving we received equaled to the pizza being free. I LOVE the free valet parking.
