    Driving in the Disneyland area

Does anyone happen to have any experience of driving in the Disneyland area?

We're pondering a July trip and are wondering how driving is out that way? Apart from Disneyland, we'd like to do a Universal and maybe head out to the bottom of the Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Barbara etc.

Does the LA traffic get out as far as Anaheim?

Do the local restaurants have good (and free?) parking or should we leave the car at the hotel and walk out to dinner if we're not eating in the parks?

The traffic in the actual Anaheim area isn't bad at all. I was there in October. Now the traffic heading to LA/Hollywood is a whole other story. But it really depends on what time you head that way.

The Anaheim area is underwhelming. It's like any average town. There are some really good places to eat in the downtown disney area as we'll.

If you have never been there before, it's really like Disneyland just fell out of the sky in the middle of a mediocre town. On a positive note, driving around is NOT a problem

    Great - thank you!

We're looking at staying at the Sheraton Park hotel (not the weird castle one!) so can walk to the parks, DTD, Anaheim GardenWalk etc but we'd head out in the car to places like Universal and just to have a look around.

The rental car is included in our package so we thought "why not?".

Last time I was there was 27 years ago so I'm expecting a few changes!!
