    General Park News - (5/22/14)
The SeaWorld Parks have launched all new version’s of their official park smartphone Apps (Discovery Guides) earlier this year, and the improvements just keep on coming. I’m told that the ability to purchase QuickQueue to cut to the front of the line will soon be coming to the app itself, which means you can upgrade your experience from within the actual line you are trying to skip.

Other new additions include GPS enabled park maps, real-time updates of park show schedules and special events, current ride-wait times, the ability to receive broadcasted park notifications and special offers, and soon will also give you the ability to order your food online from select locations so you don’t have to wait in line to order.

You can download the official Discovery Guide apps for the SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and Sesame Place parks for free in both: Apple (App Store) and Android (Google Play) flavors.

    Falcon’s Fury / Pantopia - (5/29/14)
Busch Gardens Tampa has released an official statement regarding the continuing delay of Falcon’s Fury… which now apparently wont be ready to open until sometime later this summer. Read on:
    ----

Busch Gardens’ new thrill ride Falcon’s Fury includes first-of-its kind design elements, systems and parts. Due to a delay in the fabrication of key component parts, neither the manufacturer nor Busch Gardens are able to complete the lengthy testing processes needed to open the ride to the public. The safety of our guests and team members remains Busch Gardens’ top priority and none of these delays involve safety systems. The ride has been safely operated in the initial stages of the testing process, and all other elements of the park’s newest re-imagined land Pantopia are now open to guests. Busch Gardens will provide updates on the ride opening as events warrant. We are committed to delivering world-class thrills and the best possible ride experience, and we look forward to the launch of Falcon’s Fury, North America’s tallest freestanding drop tower, later this summer.

Here's a video of the ride

    New Roller Coaster / TEMPESTO - Semi-Confirmed - (5/13/14)
News Plus Notes spotted an interesting new trademark filing by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment this week for something called TEMPESTO. They report that the Italian sounding word loosely translates to storm. They’ve come to the same conclusion as I have, that this would be a perfect sounding name for that rumored new coaster planned for the Festa Italia section of Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Just something to keep an eye on at the very least.

    Howl-O-Scream 2014 - (8/6/14)
The first haunt for Howl-O-Scream was revealed on Facebook to use the name Dead Fall, along with a contest to name the estate where the haunt will be located. Choose between Adelaide Acres, Hemlock Hall or Myristica Manor. According to the post, “spirit from the past lurk in this Victorian garden and greenhouse, longing to drag unsuspecting guests into their world.” So creepy plants and ghosts are coming to get you Barbara...

Howl-O-Scream runs on select nights from Sept. 26 - Nov. 1, 2014. Look for future votes to affect other themes of the house in the future, including the name of one of the Dead Fall residents and a murder tool one of the resident spirits fell victim to over the next three weeks.
    2014 - Falcon’s Fury / Pantopia - (8/5/14)
I’ve heard two rumors regarding the possible opening of Falcon’s Fury over the past one. One source claims that the ride isn’t likely to open until the Fall, possibly in time for Howl-O-Scream, while another source claims that it might soft-open to the public as early as August 18th. Anyone know more?

    2015 - New Roller Coaster / TEMPESTO or DIAVOLO - Semi-Confirmed - (8/7/14)
The whole Diavolo name / theme now makes a bit more sense after being explained to me. Apparently Diavolo was a daredevil / stunt bicycle performer who would perform loop stunts on a bicycle in the early half of the 20th Century. Check out a picture of one of the stunts and promotional Diavolo (Italian for Devil) poster art here. Ok... while the name and theme makes more sense now... it still seems a bit of a stretch to try and promote this new coaster as being themed to a century old daredevil that has been almost entirely forgotten about.

    Falcon’s Fury / Pantopia - (8/17/14)
As I predicted, Falcon’s Fury has soft opened to guests. One of our readers was able to take an early ride and sent in a short review and comments on the experience as a whole.

The Queue “seems to be a good balance between area constraints and queue line. Peeps flow around to the appropriate gate in the circle” but may need some more “team member help to get the peeps in order.” You are put in groups of four riders per gate, as there are 4 seats in each section, and there are four shelves for the storage of non-allowed items. (You really don’t want to take anything with you on a ride like this...).

As with any ride like this, the labor budget for staffing will effect the throughput speed, as they go around the check the restraints of every rider. Expect to be “stapled” in during this process... the park isn’t taking any chances with loose restraints and is making sure everyone is locked in tight.

THE LIFT! Once thumbed-up there is a slight tilt inward to the tower then rising at smooth rate. Views are incredible. Kumba, Montu, etc look like toys. Nearing top, the seats turn inward to face-down.

THE HANG! This will be discussed most. 2 to 5 second random hang feels like minutes. Face down. Weight on the restraint. Just a view of the ground. A definite Holy °°°° moment.

THE DROP! After random hang, well... its gravity... face down makes it another Holy °°°° scene. The seats go vertical right around where the graphics on the tower end. Smooth in transition and braking.

OVERALL: I had my doubts about this ride but after the first ride I was convinced. Guests will walk away with lasting visuals and, hopefully, a good guest experience.

Three years after the undead invasion, a containment failure has occurred in Zombie Containment Unit 15. The Zombies are escaping and in search of human flesh. Guests will be armed with a ZED… Zombie Eradication Device, and tasked to hold off the undead mob in this interactive experience. Even better, this is included with standard park admission and no reservations are required

    Falcon’s Fury / Pantopia - (9/9/14)
I’m told that the reason the park is giving for the Falcon’s Fury closure since last Friday is that the tower was struck by lightning. While this might be a rare event elsewhere in the world, the central Florida area is pretty much the lightning capital of the world and they knew going into this that the tower would serve as a lightning rod for the entire park in much the same way that the Skytower does over at their sister park, SeaWorld Orlando. So considering that Falcon’s Fury should have been designed to handle getting hit by lightning on a semi-regular basis, I’m still concerned about the lengthy delay to reopen it. Hopefully they are just being extra cautious with the systems and re-inspection, and that nothing was damaged too badly… otherwise this may become an expensive problem for them going forward, as I can see the tower taking a hit or two annually.

    General Park News - (1/6/15)
BGWFans reports that Busch Gardens management is said to be canceling the This is Oktoberfest show for the 2015 season, which has played in Das Festhaus in one form or another since the 70s. The park previously tried to cancel it back in 2012, but was met with such backlash from the passholders and guests that they put it back. Now they are trying to cancel it again.
    2015 - New Roller Coaster / TEMPESTO or DIAVOLO - Under Construction - (1/6/15)
The latest update on Tempesto, the park's new 2015 coaster (still not announced) can be found at BGWFans this week, taking pictures of the project from just about every angle. Both tower ends are now in place and they just have to bridge the gap and install the rest of the track.

Adventure Island reports that their new Colossal Curl will be ready to open for guests on March 7th.
    New Coaster - Planning - (2/12/15)
I've been informed that my guess yesterday about what is coming to Busch Gardens Tampa in 2016 is only half right. It will be a coaster... and it will be a coaster from Mack Rides... however it will not be launched... and it will not be the same style ride as SWC's Manta.

So what kind of coaster will it be? I'm not sure... I just know it wont be a launched coaster, and since the park already has Sand Serpent, it wont be a Mack Mouse either. While this leaves a few choices, the other popular rumor going around was for a Spinning Coaster, which I can really appreciate.

    Busch Gardens Tampa
    2016 - Cobra’s Curse / New Coaster - Under Construction - (5/29/15)

According to Busch Gardens Tampa, their new Cobra’s Curse coaster will use the old King Tut’s Tomb walk-through attraction to serve as the start to the ride’s air conditioned queue… something you will appreciate on those hot Florida days. While a full POV of the coaster was not released, the park did release a teaser. (See below) They also mentioned that the section of track after the elevator lift hill at the start of the ride would have the cars locked into a forward facing position, and at a certain point following this the cars would rotate 180º backwards and go up a second lift hill. When released from this second lift hill, the cars would then go into the free-spinning mode for the rest of the ride.

As you can see in the concept art, the ride will use a series of short 2-car trains, each able to hold four riders (2 rows of 2 across), and while this ride is from Mack Rides, the cars don’t appear to look like anything like the typical Mack Spinning coasters we’ve seen used elsewhere in the world. I can only imagine that perhaps this new car design might be somewhat of a hybrid between the Mack’s individual Wild Mouse cars (like Sand Serpent) mounted to the base and wheel assembly of their Spinning Coaster cars. While the park is still holding many secrets about this ride close to the vest, I was intrigued by the mention of a specific place where the cars would rotate 180º backwards before going up a second lift of some kind. Since I haven’t been able to find any trace of a second lift in the artwork released so far, I do wonder if the park may try to create some kind of theatrical event with special effects at this moment in the ride… sort of the big reveal for whatever the “curse” actually is before spinning the riders out of control for the second half of the ride. Just something to think about… but only based on pure speculation on my part.

    2016 - Cobra’s Curse / New Coaster - Under Construction - (6/22/15)
The latest construction update from the site of Cobra’s Curse can be found over at Pixels at the Parks this week. From what we see so far there has been a lot of focus on clearing out the site around the former Tut’s Tomb attraction building, which will be repurposed for the Cobra’s Curse indoor queue. Meanwhile much of the rest of the work site is still focused on ground clearing and prep for the basic infrastructure.
