    Downtown disney hotel

We've decided to get in a day early and I thought staying in downtown disney would be neat. So my question is what's the closest and what's the cheapest hotel? And what's the best in your opinion?

You won't save much, just go straight to Disney.

If you'll be driving, just be aware that the toad alongside DTD is a mess right now.

Huge roadworks and lots of traffic delays due to the DTD construction works.

I would say it looks like a building site - but it IS a building site!

We stayed at Wyndham lake buena vista for ~$90/night when we arrived the night before our fort wilderness cabins reservation began (couldn't see spending another $500 on a night at the cabin, besides the fact they told us we would probably have to switch cabins the next day anyway).
The hotel was great, had dinner right there (because as Winkster mentioned traffic was a nightmare outside and just wasn't worth leaving the hotel to eat). Also we were told and saw signs in the restaurant that they have a character meal there in the morning with goofy and Pluto for under $20/person and no reservations needed. We were heading out first thing in the morning to start our real vacation so we didn't partake. The pool also looked nice, but again we arrived late and after dinner (and an 18 hour drive from by) we too exhausted to really check it out.
but I would def recommend the hotel :-)
