Horizons was always my favorite ride at EPCOT. I was so upset when they shut it down. I always remember being on a 6th grade trip in 1986 and going on Horizons about 10 times with my friends,,,,sigh- I miss the old EPCOT, when it used to be my favorite park.
Personally, I think Epcot has changed for the better. I hated most of the park when they had Horizons, the World of Motion, etc. Not that I am against either of those rides, but I think the technology and publicity generated by WDI for Test Track and Mission: Space have only been positive. After all, the thought going through everybody's head is, "Wow, Mission: Space was amazing."

Actually, my reaction was.. Wow, Mission: Space was nausating. I -loved- the animatroinics stuff, I think that is what the Imagineers are best at, not this Test Track / M: S stuff. I'd rather have the World of Motion and Spaceship Earth any day.. it was what set EPCOT apart from every other thrill park. God forbid we learn something at a park.. Its funny.. I hate what EPCOT is becomming.

And then make the sucker disappear?
You came back!
No, I came home..
The only problem is that Horizons and the World of Motion weren't rides that many people would go to Florida to see. Mission: Space has been advertised heavily and Test Track is well-known as well.

I've always been the weird one in the family, Epcot has always been my favorite. Yes, WOM and Horizons were my faves, but they don't really seem like the kind of rides that could easily be updated with the times. Spaceship Earth luckily hasn't had that problem too much. Although, it is showing it's age as well. Have they found a way to quiet the tracks yet? Bdan is right tho, they need rides that'll DRAW people into the park... The so-called wienie..... Peoples attitudes and attention spans are changing. The rides need to be a bit more on the thrill side to keep their attention, and I'm sure they'll still learn something along the way.
I agree with Geoff, they need to quiet the SSE tracks. The so-called "OmniMovers," aka: PeopleMovers in disguise, are really too loud for that kind of attraction. Noise on TT or Rock 'n,' who really cares? But for a ride that promotes history (not to mention AT&T), they really ruin the effect.
