I hope that will answer some of your questions. I think you will like staying there , besides being so close to Epcot it is just minutes away from the Magic Kingdom.
Have fun at WDW and let us know how it turned out!

Welcome to TD jns. My family stayed at the POR in June 2002 and we loved it. It is a very beautifully maintained and landscaped resort. You can find all sorts of recreational activities here also. We took the boat ride to downtown disney one night and it was fun. We will be going back this July and are staying here again.

Welcome to Talkdisney JNS!! I'm sure you're going to love it here!
Port Orleans Riverside is a great hotel. The food court is wonderful and the pool is awesome!!! Its close to most of the parks and there is a really relaxing boat ride that takes you to downtown disney! The only complaint I would have about the resort is that it is spread out and if your room is towards the back of the complex, it might be a walk to the lobby and food court - buts is a very nice walk! I've stayed here a few times and loved it! If you have any more questions, just ask, we'll be more that happy to help you out!!!

Stayed there with my family when it was still Dixie Landings, and we always enjoyed it a lot. Beautiful landscaping, plenty of amenities. In addition to the boat to Downtown Disney, is there one to MGM as well? I seem to remember that. We always stayed in the Magnolia Bend mansions, rather than in Alligator Bayou--they seemed closer to the lobby/food court/souvenir shop.
I would request a room in Magnolia Terrace (if there are only 4 or less - the trundles are all in AB)
The rooms are set up like you're in a big mansion - it's really cool! Also head down to POFQ for a neat walk one day - it has a really cool theme too!

I must admit, I'm actually a little irritated that they changed the name from Dixie Landings to Port Orleans: Riverside. It's like they took away part of the resort's identity. Oh well--at least I still have my old Dixie Landings hats and pins.
