There is a ride difference depending on which elevators you ride.
there are six elevators, a lower bank of 3 and an upper bank of 3. The Upper bank is accessed through the left hand library, while the Lower bank is accessed through the right hand library. when you leave the library, you enter the common Basement /boiler room, but the lines are kept separated by a divider.
The Left / Upper bank has more start stop, and feels slightly gentler. The most notable point is where there is a long up and down movement in darkness. The Right / lower bank seems to have a longer uninterupted drop here, compared with the left / upper bank. It is more exciting. THis is also confirmed by cast members, who have taken excessive rides (some of them have passed the 100 ride mark.. )
A hint for the best photo (if you do it right):
Get the Tot Blanket souvenier prior to your ride. Now, make sure you are in the back (Row A), in the center. THis should have the Isle in front of you. After the door closes, stretch out the towel so that the image is in the isle (be careful to not hold it too high, or you'll cut off your head in the photo.)
WHen the image is snapped, you should end up with the ToT image in the isle, in Vivid Color, in the middle of the photo. It is defiatly a keeper.

Capacity issues - there are two elevators per 3 shafts, creating a total of 6 elevators. The addition of an extra 3 elevators creates the addition of 63 seats, which doubles capacity had there only been 3 elevators. Each shaft has two loading floors to accomodate both elevators, which increase efficiency, which is one of Disney's Keys (the last one after Safety, Courtesy, and Show).

So basically, they can load one Tower car while the other goes through it's ride sequence?

why is this in the rumor section??
Second
I have heard that the two scenes you see before the drop happen in random order is this true??
The first question is an easy one , this is the Hidden Mickeys , Rumors & Secrets Forum. So this would be a Disney secret revealed.
I'm not sure about your second question , but perhaps it was addressed in one of the ride reviews on another thread.

Can probably put the sequence rumor to bed right here....
If you HAVE BEEN on this attraction ....when you go to your first stop, is it A) the Haunted Mirror or B) the Ghosts with the starfield. Second...When you leave your first stop, do you A) go down a floor or B) go up a floor. Third....what shaft/level are you on?
Here was mine:
First stop...Haunted Mirror
Second stop...Ghosts
went down one floor
Center shaft/lower level
