Family Channel - Canada's fastest growing kids' network announces new fall line-up
There's never a dull moment on Family with the launch of nine new series in August
Starting August 19, Family is turning things up a notch to reflect the full throttle, full volume chaos of today's family with the addition of nine new series to its programming line-up, including All That, Disney's Kim Possible, Disney's Teamo Supremo and Henry's World.
"Over the past two years, our viewership among kids has grown more than 60 percent, making Family the fastest growing children's network in Canada," said Joe Tedesco, Family's vice-president and general manager. "With the addition of funny, high-energy shows like All That and Disney's Kim Possible, we're building on our success this season and delivering a simple message to viewers: 'There's never a dull moment on Family... we promise.'"
Highlights of Family's new season include the following (all times ET/PT):
All That (Canadian Television Premiere: August 19 at 6:30 pm) - Nickelodeon's highest-rated and longest-running live-action series, All That features over-the-top original sketch comedy performed by young comedians (including The Amanda Show's Amanda Bynes) who aren't afraid to look at life from a completely whacked-out perspective. Featuring celebrity hosts like Melissa Joan Hart and David Arquette and musical guests such as Nelly Furtado, Mandy Moore and Britney Spears. Mondays to Fridays at 6:30 pm.
Disney's Kim Possible (Canadian Television Premiere: August 25 at 4:35 pm) - Praised by Entertainment Weekly as "a cartoon character who's bright in every sense," Kim Possible is animation's newest superhero. Produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, this original action-comedy series stars Christy Carlson Romano (Even Stevens) as the voice of Kim Possible, a typical teenager who just happens to save the world from evil villains in her spare time. Saturdays and Sundays at 4:35 pm.
Disney's Teamo Supremo (Canadian Television Premiere: August 25 at 5:00 pm) - "Doing the right thing makes you super" is the motto for an unusually talented trio of elementary school superheroes called Teamo Supremo. Produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, this energetic original animated series follows the adventures of Captain Crandall, Rope Girl and Skate Lad, three pint-sized heroes who are sworn to fight the forces of evil... and still finish all of their homework. Saturdays and Sundays at 5:00 pm.
Henry's World (Canadian Television Premiere: August 24 at 6:40 pm) - The first stop-motion animated series ever entirely produced in Canada, Henry's World is the extraordinary story of an eight-year-old boy who goes on amazing adventures whenever he eats his mom's mushy carrots. Featuring an impressive roster of Canadian vocal talent, including Fiona Reid (Duct Tape Forever) and Colin Fox (Nero Wolfe). Henry's World is an AAC KIDS(TM) co- production with Loonland UK Ltd. in association with Cuppa Coffee Animation and with the participation of Family. Saturdays and Sundays at 6:40 pm.
Other series new to Family include Boy Meets World, starring Ben Savage as an angst-ridden boy who ventures through the trials and tribulations of growing up; Teen Angel, starring Maureen McCormick (The Brady Bunch) as the mom of a teenage boy who gets his very own guardian angel; and You Wish, a comedy about a recently-divorced mother of two (Harley Jane Kozak) who gets more than she bargained for after she picks up an area rug containing a genie.
Returning to Family with brand new episodes of sibling rivalry at its best is the Emmy Award-nominated original comedy series Even Stevens, starring Christy Carlson Romano (Disney's Kim Possible) and Shia LeBeouf. Rising teen star Hilary Duff (Cadet Kelly; Agent Cody Banks) is also back as Lizzie McGuire in fresh episodes of the hit comedy series about the highs, horrors and hormones of life as a teenage girl. Other continuing series include The Book of Pooh; Stanley; Out of the Box; The Proud Family; Disney's Pepper Ann; Disney's The Weekenders and Disney's House of Mouse. New episodes of returning series start in September.
