Angry I got yelled at by a mom at WDW yesterday!

Yesterday was soooo beautiful! My mom, sister, and I took my kids to MK and Epcot. We went to MK first and we were so excited to see the new Cinderellabration show for the first time. We found a place in front of the castle and in back of a few other guests. Then this pregnant woman came up behind us and I heard her son say "mommy I can't see." His mother then said "that's ok everyone will sit down when the show starts." I thought to myself that if I sat down then my kids wouldn't be able to see because of the people that were standing in front of us. Now in the past, everytime I have seen these shows (which has been alot) I have never seen anyone sit down. SO the show started and she very rudely said to me "would you sit down!" No one in front of me or around me was sitting. Now keep in mind that I was speaking calmly the whole time. So I said "no ma'am I will not. My kids won't be able to see if I do" She yells "my kids can't see--this is a children's show--you need to grow up!!" I just ignored her comment. You won't believe what she did next--she started tapping HARD on the two couples standing next to me, who were holding their young children, yelling at them to sit down! I was shocked! Then she started up with me again saying that I needed to sit down. I told her calmly that I paid money to come to this park just as she did and I can stand up if I wanted to. i also said if she has a problem to go get a cast member. After the show her friend came up to us and said "you know we are from Chicago and we come here once a year and noone stands up." So I said "we live in Tampa and we come 2-3 times a month and I have never seen people sit." Then she said "then WHY are watching the show!" OMG!!! I have NEVER encountered such rudeness while being a WDW park. Now my question is-- is it common for people to stand up or sit down during these shows ( I personally have seen everyone stand) what have you all experienced. I don't like to get rude or get yelled at at the happiest place on earth Oh--It ended with my sister telling them that there are other show times and maybe she should get here earlier next time to get front row. HA! Despite what happened--we had a GREAT time! The lines at MK were only 10-20 min wait and Epcot was lovely as usuall!! If you have gotten this far--thanks so much for reading!!!!

Whoa, that woman needs to chill. I understand if she wants her children to be able to see the show and all, but bothering everyone around her is not the way to go. Everytime that I have watched a show in front of cindi's castle everyone is always standing because everyone wants to see. If I remember correctly I think there was maybe one show I did see that people were pretty much all sitting down for...but that was a looong time ago.

You're right no one sits down... the only time i see people sit down is durring the parades on the curb....so don't worry....she's just moody....

One time when i was at the Animal Kingdom park this lady with a stroller rand right into my leg... and it wasn't even like crowded it was just my three friends and her family walking down the walk way and she just decided that she wanted to walk on the other side of me so she ran right into me... i was shocked at how rude that was too!

Thalia she was crazy! I've never seen anyone sit for any show or presentation on that stage and I have seen plenty since I've started going to WDW/working at WDW.

Unlike those lucky people from Chicago, We've only been to WDW every three years, not once a year. The only time I can recall sitting anywhere was at an attraction with seats, while eating or in the bathroom. They were lucky it was you and not me, I can be loud.

It's really too bad that people behave like that. WDW is such a wonderful place and I'm sure that something could have been worked out if she was a little more polite--I know it can be frustrating when you have little ones and they want to see something and they can't because they are short, but that is no reason for someone to go off that way, pregnant or not. Sounds like you handled it well though.

that is too bad it sounds like she needed nap time.
the only time this happened to me was when outr kids were little. ours and others people children were sitting on the curb for the electric light parade. there was a large group of teenagers from a tour from i think somewhere in south america . they had these flags with some insignia on it. and they climbed over everybody and stood in front of all the little kids sitting on the curb. myself and another parent asked them to sit down or move so the little ones could see and they started screaming at us in another language. one of them a girl about 14 was in my face cursing at me and screaming, they had all the kids crying. one of there advisor came over and was screaming and cursing. we ended up taking our kids and leaving. I was very afriad it was going to get physical. it ruined the whole day at the park.

Sorry about that faerie dust, although once I can tell you we were there and a similar situation happened with a group from South America. People were waiting near the International Gateway bridge in Epcot for Illuminations and a group stood right in front of them. Of course a very large gentleman asked them to move down some so everyone could see it and that didn't go so well as members of the tour group began yelling, and basically a melee broke out with cm's and security having to take everyone out of the park. It's a shame that a few rude people can spoil a day.

In all the times I have been to WDW. I have never seen anyone sit for a show at the castle. Although I have encountered the same kind of thing two times while there. Once I was in Honey I Shrunk the Aud. and when we were in the pre show area people where sitting down and having been there before I knew that they would tell them to get up. The people behind us kept asking us to sit down so they could see. I tried to explain to them that we were suppose to stand they got mad until they were told to stand then they said they were sorry. The other time I had a person speak so rudely to me and my husband she was even cussing at us in another language. We had went to watch the parade and was there 2 hours before the parade was to start. We were right in front of the castle where they were parking strollers because they did not want them on the parade route. She came about 20 minutes before the parade started she had two small childeren with her and she ask us could move together a little so her two kids could see the parade. We said yes. Well her daughter came and met with another child and she started an arguement saying that my husband had taken more room than he was suppose to and wanted him to get up and move so they would have room to see the parade and they wanted to put a double stroller there. She started cussing and finally a CM came over and told her she could not keep her stroller with her she would have to park it with the other ones. She started cussing at the CM. They finally got her to move her stroller. But she stayed behind us talking in another language the whole time the parade was going on. We know she was talking about us because she kept saying stuff and pointing her finger at us. I was so glad when the parade was over because she was making us so uncomfortable.

IDD that no one ever sits down at the shows, except for those with seating. Aside from it being uncomfortable, your clothes would get pretty nasty from sitting where all sorts of folks have walked, spilled stuff etc.

As for it being a "children's show", I for one am sick of people using their kids as an excuse for having bad manners and ill behavior. Frankly, it isn't my responsiblity to make sure that someone's kids have a good time and honestly, I don't care if they do. The onus for that is on the parents. If I can make your day a bit more pleasent by having your kid stand in front of me at a parade or show while not obstructing my own view or the view of those around me, most of whom used the good sense that god gave them to arrive in time for a good spot, so be it. No big deal. But to expect others to inconvenience themselves so that your kids can see, meet the characters and grab a photo etc., is the height of rudeness. If someone wants to be sure that their kids have a great time, then that someone needs to get on line or to the stage area early. Every person in the park is there to enjoy their day, not to kowtow to the needs of others and their kids.

Just to wind up this rant, the show isn't a "children's show." It's a show for all to enjoy, regardless of age.

And don't even get me started on strollers.........

Yeah this happened to me also when I was there a few weeks ago. I sat down near the castle stage so I could film it. Well I ususally sit down and when I saw CSC we sat but when the show would start everyone would stand up to see the show. I was thinking the same cause I caught an earlier show and everyone that was sitting stood up. Well this family next to me asked if we were to stand cause where we were sitting it was better if you stood thats why I got there so freakin early. So the show starts and the mom next to me is like should we stand up and so we did, well the ppl behind us start yelling so were like umm hello duh ppl your supposed to stand up. So we sit back down then the families kids that are next to me go mommy we cant see, so she stands up next thing I know she grabs my arm and goes here stand no reason we have to sit cause the ppl behind us. So we hear all this yelling to sit down we keep going we cant see, so everyone in front of us stood cause they couldnt see well either. So we made everyone stand for OMG 20 minutes plz..... You can sort of hear it in the background this one lady and her friend complaining behind me. After the show I go if you would like to go with me to Guest Relations and complain about me I would more than willing to go with you to tell you there is nothing they can do about it. It shut her up real fast. The family beside me was with me 100%.

i think part of the problem with the large tours of kids. did not have enough supervision and since they are not in their home area they think they can act anyway they want to. they were running into people stepping o n children and pushing over strollers and even wheelchairs and no one said anything . when we went down with our high school band we had a very short leash on our kids. but some of the other groups were horrible, . some of these chaperones dont seem to care how the kids act.
I quess they think as long as thier parents cant find out why behave.
people seem to think that all of the oher quests and all the CM are in that park to make their vacation. if you cant see at one parade there is always other showing. now iM done ranting and raving[ at least for now]

That's horrible that someone can be that rude! People always stand at the shows unless it's in a theatre with seats! My only experience with a really rude person like that was at DCA once when we went to see the Aladdin musical and the family behind us was complaining that they couldn'ts see because we were taller than them and there were seats available throughout the whole theatre so it annoyed me that they had to sit right behind us and then grumble the whole time! Some people just aren't affected by the disney magic i guess!!!
