I am sure this is the stupidest question ever. I just called my local Disney Store and they have the new bills. Now for the dumb question: do you pay face value for the bills? i.e. $1 US for $1 DD, etc., and is there tax involved? Or do you just pay tax on the item once you use the DD? Sorry for the ignorance, but any help would be appreciated.
I dont think theeres any tax on them.. one for one im pretty sure

It is just like trading money... you give them $20 they give you back 20 Disney Dollars. You may ask for any combination of the bills... ones, fives, and tens. Thre is no tax.

Hey I have always been told the only stupid question is the one not asked. So don't feel stupid. There is no tax on them. They are exchanged dollar for dollar.

Disney Dollars have the same value as a US Dollar. They are traded 1 for 1 and can be used for just about anything, to puchase tickets, merchandise, meals, and even can be used to tip your waitress. They'll take them because they know they can trade them back.
They have been known to be collectables. For this years Happiest Celabration they have special dollars with different logo's on the back as they had back for WDW 25th Anniversary and so on. I personally only keep a $1 for the collection but they go up to $100.

Do people actually buy things with them or do people use as souvenirs like I did?
Yes people do asctually buy things with them. When my family went last year we had a deal upon check in that we received 100 Disney dollars. We saved one and spent the rest.

I saw an idea posted somewhere about someone giving her kids Disney Dollars to use to buy souvenirs once they get to WDW. She said that she put the money in a Disney wallet as a gift before they got there. Has anyone seen these anywhere? I looked at Walmart, Disney Store, and a few dollar stores. Ebay has some, but surely they can be found at a store near me. Can anyone help steer me?
I actually got my Stitch wallet at the Disney store and more recently I saw some Disney coin purses at WalMart, so just keep checking. Also my spouse gave me some Disney dollars for our anniversary and they were in an envelope with Disney stickers plastered all over the outside of it. (an idea if you are unable to find a wallet). I will definately be saving some of the 50th anniversary dollars, but most of it will be spent on yet more Disney merchandise and pins . I love Disney dollars and find them to be perfect gifts for those who are getting ready to go on a Disney vacation. Hope you can find the perfect wallet for a very magical gift.

My friend and I are saving our silver change for spending money at Disney (We have over $300 and two more months to go!!!)... And we thought about buying Disney dollars with them before we go just because it's more fun that way... Makes things more Magical if you pay with Disney Dollars!

I just picked up my Disney Dollars at TDS. They only had $1 and $5. Mickey was on the $1 and Goofy was on the $5. I hadn't seen Mickey on the $1. Has anyone else gotten any with him?
