We had such high expectations of MVMCP so we went Sun DEC 4 and sad to say we were very disappointed. The crowds were absolutely unbearable, people were definitely not in the christmas spirit in fact it reminded me of crazy people shopping the day after thanksgiving. My 75 year old Grandmother was pushed out of the way of viewing the parade so some woman could get pictures. I have never in my life seen people behave in this way. Disney needs to do something to control the crowds at these events. Maybe have a kid section, an elderly section and a crazy person section! My 5 year old son was trying to watch fireworks and he about got ran over by someone pushing a double stroller through a crowd of who knows how many people. We only got to do 2 rides, didn't get to watch any shows and we were hurried through the picture line like we were cattle. We really love disney and us and our kids have grown up on all the Disney movies and we will probably try to go to the parks again during a very low crowd and off season. Can any one tell me if that is possible? After leaving MVMCP practically in tears we can only wish and hope that those who have tickets to this event have a better time then we did.
I really dislike being so negative so I will say a positive of the party was the cookies and cocoa, they were very yummy! This also didn't ruin our trip, we decided to cancel the disney tickets for the other parks because of the crowds and went to universals island of adventure instead which was simply amazing! All rides were walk on and my son got all kinds of attention from spiderman his fav! We also went to Seaworld wich was a lil more crowded then universal but was also very fun to feed the dolphins and the rides were also walk on there as well.

Yes, next year go to the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party. It is soooooo neat. Crowds are low, and the atmosphere is awesome. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Try the MNSSHP and maybe that will be a little better. We loved it so much that time of the year that we are going back again next year for it and we are even adding an extra day to the trip!
I am so sorry to hear this, especially about people shoving a 75 year-old out of the way. That's completely rude. I've come to the conclusion that there are two kinds of guests at Disney: those who are in the Disney spirit and those who are not. Those who are are kind, courteous, and don't complain. Those who are not are rude and pushy. It seems you ran into several of the latter. You can try to go during off-season, which is typically January (excluding New Years) and between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. However, the past two times I have gone have been at peak crowd times (spring break and summer) and it really was not that bad. On Spring Break, the longest we had to wait in line was 45 minutes. The weather was warm but not sweltering. I hope you're able to go back soon and have a MUCH better time!

This is always the kind of thing I worry about the most! I can handle any other situation that may arrise during my family vacation, but this is my DD and DB first times and I would hate for them to not enjoy it!!
I am so sorry that the party was so rough. It is unfortunate that there are those kinds of people in the world...even at the Happiest Celebration!!
I am glad that your trip could be recovered somewhat!!

Sorry you had no such a good time. Unfortunately, I find that no matter where you go these days, you seem to always encounter at least 1 person, who has no respect for anyone else. It's just wrong that you had to encounter it at Disney.
Hopefully the next time you go, (and I'm hoping you do go again, to see you can and will enjoy yourself there) you decide to go at a less packed, possibly *off peak* time.
All the times I've been to WDW, have Always been *non-peak* times. I've always had a great time. Some trips were amazinly light in crowds, and some were a bit heavier, but while there I just couldn't imagine going when it was more busy.
I mean, I was even on a bus from our resort to the parks and there was only my friend and I! I didn't even want to think what it's like having to wait in a large crowd, just to get on a crowded bus.
But again, I hope that experience doesn't keep you from Returning and giving Disney a 2nd Chance!

My family went to the party on Tue. 11/29 and had a wonderful experience. We almost decided to go again on 12/4. When you go to one of these parties (MVMCP or MNSSHP), I've found it best to focus on the activities that are unique to the party (parades, fireworks, shows, free pics, rarely seen characters, etc.). Any rides we are able to get on we see as bonus activities. As for the rude and insensitive people, they are in the real world so expect them in Walt's world. We ran into a few ourselves but just made the best of it when we encountered them. Oh, and yes, the cookies and cocoa hit the spot!
Thank you all for your comments, it makes us happy to know you guys care. We are planning another disney trip maybe sometime in May before all the kiddos get out of school here. Is that a good time to go to Disney World?? If not we will just wait til next Jan. Thanks again for all the input!

A great resource on planning when to go is touringplans.com which is the "official" website of the Unofficial Guide to WDW. It provides a day by day listing of expected crowd levels. My family is planning a return trip May 8-15.

I'm so glad to hear someone elses view on the MVMCP, I too was dissapointed with the party. We went on Dec. 1st and only stayed at the party for two hours. The crowds were insane, I had to watch the parade in between peoples heads. The only great thing was that they let us in for 4 o'clock and thats when the park was starting to empy out, we walked right on to POC, Splash mountain, and BTMR !! But once 7 o'clock came .. things were just way too crowded. We didnt even get our picture taken. The hot cocoa and cookies were GREAT !! But spending $40 for hot cocoa and cookies seems a little crazy. Next year we will know better and just skip the party. There was plenty more to do. I havent filed my trip report yet, just trying to get my thought together !!
Oh yeah ... May is an AWESOME time to go !! We are going in May as well. It can be a little warm that time of year, but hey, thats what pools are made for !!

I have to agree - I was there the same night - Dec 4 and it wasn't all that special. The Halloween party I went to in Oct was definitely better. I felt like there wasn't anything SO special about the Christmas party, whereas the Halloween Party had trick or treating, costumes etc. Just made it feel like I was getting something different for the money.

Sorry to hear that your MVMCP experience didn't go so well D1stT.
I'll join the chorus of folks who were disappointed in the CP. It was really just like a night at the park with cocoa and cookies added to the mix. Although, I did enjoy the Mickey's Night b4 Xmas show over in Tommorrowland.

So sorry to hear that your trip did not go well! Please do try again at a time that is less crowded. I hear that the week after Thanksgiving is wonderful!

Thats when I went and the crowds during the day were nothing, it was after 7 when the party began that everyone was trying to do the same things. Except for Saturday, I learned my lesson about doing MK on a Saturday !! Also, on the night of the MVMCP. ALL the other parks become EXTREMELY crowded because MK and AK both close early and so everyone flocks to the two remaining parks. Another lesson well learned !!
