It is now less than one month until our trip and we were just phoned today and told that we cannot stay at the Caribbean resort because it is being renovated. I wonder who dropped the ball here? They must have known this for awhile--I can't imagine they are going to up and renovate on a moments notice.
| Actually rmartin, this was kinda a goof on their part. As I understand it, the renovations are to Old Port Royale and a couple of other buildings. They were going to stay open for the renovations but decided to close due to the logistics of not being able to have a food court etc. Also, I know a few people who were called last week and their trips were in the very near future as well. I suppose that they are trying to call everyone in the order of closest upcoming ressie to furthest away. Quote: | rmartin said:They have offered to move us to another reort comparable in price--neither of which are appealling to us-- OR we can spend more money and upgrade to a deluxe resort (I guess it is slow season and the deluxe resorts have rooms available). So I guess they think they should profit from their mistakes!
| I'd be curious to hear what they offered you as alternate mod. resorts. Also, did they offer you a super deal if you wanted to upgrade to a deluxe? Sometimes they have been known to give great rates at the deluxes to make up for the inconvenience of not being able to stay at your selected resort. For example, the people who were staying at Shades of Green were moved to the Contemporary during the renovations there.
Anyway, try not to stress about it and enjoy your vacation.:&mickeyhe
