While Disney/ABC makes plans to buy WEVD (1050 AM), which it is currently leasing as its local outlet for ESPN Radio, SaveWEVD is asking the FCC not to let the deal go through.
SaveWEVD, which is led by Chuck Zlatkin, argues that the public interest was better served by the old WEVD, which carried a number of local talk shows (in addition to infomercials).
In a letter to FCC Chairman Michael Powell, the group charges that Disney's deal to buy WEVD from The Forward was done in a secret, "underhanded" manner, and asks that the commission refuse to approve the purchase. The bid is considered a long shot.
