That Mickey Mouse company? No way, says AOL
AOL Time Warner has denied reports that it is considering a merger with Disney.
The New York Post quoted a company source who said that exploratory talks between the two companies were in progress. But any such deal would not happen for some time, if ever, according to the source.
The paper explained that a merger with Disney would be appealing because its ABC TV division would give AOL Time Warner a broadcast TV network.
Disney would also provide powerhouse cable net ESPN, strong international assets and its theme parks.
But AOL Time Warner flatly rejected the story. "What you're hearing is inaccurate," the company told the paper.
"We are focusing on running our business and there are absolutely no discussions about merging with Disney, either internal or external."
