I hope this doesn't apply to the Platinum Editions - they need to be 2 discs. Maybe L&S will be a Platinum in 10 years or so and there'll be a lot of extras then. I don't think they should completely stop production of Special Editions because there is a demand out there for them, but they should only make them for their big hits and don't make a one disc version and a 2 disc version - just have the 2 disc version as people will buy it and it'll save money. Ice Age is only available as a 2 disc DVD and it sells well and is the same price as any one disc DVD.
Anyway, I think it's a very radical decision by the company to state that there will NEVER be more 2-disc special editions in the future! I mean, who knows what will happen in the future that will change their minds.

People on-line are crediting him for the original article about Eisner's edict of no more 2 disk SE's...he's got an addendum to the original claim that there won't be a 2 disk L&S, now he says there will be one, but no one knows when...If you ask me, another sign that the House of Mouse needs some reorganizing...
I read that new article too. I don't understand why they just don't make a 2 disc version of the films like most other companies do. If parents don't like them because their kids scratch/break the discs when trying to change the discs out then supervise the kids and change the discs for them. I think a 2 disc version on the popular hit movies would make sense and would be cheaper then making a one disc version and also a 2 disc version.
I can see points for both sides (single disk sets vs. double disks), but the thing is, Disney already spent the money on produsing extras that would go on a double disk set...It's not like the extras that they would put onto it is additional money, it's built in to the whole preproduction budget. So not doing a Lilo and Stitch Double would be wasting money. I know that pressing and preping and marketing and all would be more expense, but you think that sales would balance that out.
OK, so DVD's have gone mainstream, Eisner's belief that most people only care about the movie and not the special features has merit, I mean just look at the whole "Pan and Scan" vs. Original Aspect Ratios for movies...Next thing we'll know Disney will put out only mutilated forms of our favorite movies...sigh
Anyway, don't they realize that there's so many disney fanatics out there that it doesn't matter the cost, if they provide CONTENT, we would all gladly pay extra for something like this?
