Thread: Mother and daughter disney trip

I would talk a lot about it with her. Emphasize the fact that it is only a week. But maybe wait until she's been in school for a month or so just so she has time to adjust to her new school. If she's the kind of kid who loves school and gets involved in lots of activities, her adjustment will most likely be smooth and easy. Once the anxiety of the unknown has passed, she will probably be much more receptive to a WDW vacation!

Call or email her teachers and/or coaches, etc. a few weeks ahead of time to let them know when she'll be out and ask them if she should take assignments with her or make them up when she returns. (Different teachers will handle this differently.)
Check the school calendar and make sure she's not missing anything major (like state testing or something).
Whatever you do, don't plan on leaving her home! Once she gets there, the Disney magic will work on her and you will both have a wonderful time.

What age is 7th grade?
it's different in the UK. because if it isn't a big age im sure it won't do her any harm missing school for a week. I know when I was at school in my early teens I declined family holidays because I wanted to concentrate on my studies but even then if they asked me if I wanted to go to wdw for a fortnight I would have said bugger school!! Lol

Re: Mother and daughter disney trip
As a kid that literally grew up with the parks, I can say that even when I was a resentful pre-teen/teenager, as an adult I relish those experiences. I moved a lot as a kid (10 schools in 12 years, not only in different states, but different countries), and by the time I was a teenager I was extremely resentful about "family time", especially when you are trying to find your own identity.
I look back and think, as a kid, you don't really understand how memories, like wine, sweeten with age.
I hope you all come to terms, and in either case, I'm sure you both will have a happy trip!
