It was the best thing I've ever done! I know this isn't much, but it's sincere!
I totally agree! I have learned so much about myself since doing my first CP. I have learned a lot about Disney. I now know what I want to do with myself once I graduate (I want to work at Disney FT). The CP is the best thing I have ever done (each and every one of them).

That's great to hear!
I'm thinking about applying for either the CareerStart or the College Program.
Looking back, what made it the right decision for you guys? What were your reasons back then for starting that you found out you were right about.... if that makes sense?
Let me give you an example:
Reason back then: I know I wanna work for Disney, but I'm not sure what kind of work/what to study.
After experience:
I made the right decision to do the College Program as they helped me find out what kinds of jobs there are/what I can study and what i'm good at.
Get my question?
Actually now we're at it, my example is my real life reason to wanna apply. But is that right that that is one of the things you get out of it/you work with? That's what I understood so far, but you get so much contradicting info.
Can you help me with that one?

Btw. what's Disney FT, Joanna?
I did my first CP because I love Disney, and wanted to experience being at Disney. Since then, I have done my other 3 CPs because I want to work at Disney for good.
FT is Full-Time.

Hey Joanna thanks for the respond... I actually thought I had responded back a long time ago but I just saw now that i hadn't...
I wanted to ask you how many majors are you allowed to take? 'Cause I want to study 3 different ones:
Film, tv & radio.
Theater, performance & music.
Biology/science.
Can you only choose one? Or do you have have to choose whatever you're already studying back at college?
Cause i'm not sure what I want to be yet/ study, that's why I want to do the program, to find out what to choose.. To try different things and see what i'm good at.
i can find many things that interest me, but i dunno what i have a chance at succeding at.

Well, majors vary by schools. I do know a few people who were double-majors who did the CP.
As for roles, you only do one (unless you have a hopper role).

I just looked through the college program about requirements at wdw and fell over the words "Students must be currently enrolled and taking classes in a college or university in the United States and have completed at least one semester."
Does this really mean I, living in Europe, have to move to America and go to college for a year and then apply not even knowing if I will ever be accepted?
Were there any students who came from other places than US when you were there? or did I just understand this right?
I know they have an international program but reading about that I fell over the lines:
"Although participants may not pursue a career in the hospitality, entertainment or service industries, they will have the opportunity to learn skills that will be valuable to them in many of their future endeavors. They will also have the opportunity to make professional connections with leaders from a variety of disciplines through numerous networking events."
Well I want to study/pursue a career within entertainment at/with Disney, that's the only thing I know for sure. So it doesn't sound like to me that this is the right thing for me. But when I go to a chatforum for the international program people are talking about how you can be a character there! I am so confused right now i'm about to cry! Please help!
Sorry for all the questions, but this is a big step going to the other side of earth and nobody aroundme knows about this stuff soo... I'm gonna have to go to some student counseling center in Copenhagen to have them look at all of this (takes 6 hours by train!), but I wanted to ask you guys too.
Oh btw I have one more question. Given I live in Europe and, if I understand it correctly, have to live in America a year going to college I will have to rent an apartment. But what do I do financialy if I do get accepted to the Disney college program? Has any of you had to finance both the home you live in normally where you have all of your belongings and furniture and your apartment at Disney?

What is the DCP and how old do u have to be to get in?
The Disney College Program is a paying internship at WDW (and also at DL). You spend a semester (or semester plus the summer) working at Disney. It is such a great experience. And to do the CP, you have to be 18 years or older.

I have to agree with all of you... I was involved in the Disney College Program in 2003.. It was the best experiance I have ever had to do it all over again I would in a heart beat!!!
I grew up in a very small town and was the only girl out of 9 grandchildren on my fathers side so moving in with 5 other girls was the craziest but best thing I ever did.. NOT to metion the great experiance to learning how Disney works and is ran was great too..
The only thing I would say if you are thinking about doing th college program do it early in your college education.. Because 1. it takes away a whole semester of your schooling.. But 2. if you love Disney there are great jobs that you can go into after working for Disney and you can also do my advanced interships that will help you with you future career also... Most of my managers while I work at MGM Studio's (now Disney Studio's) started out on the college program and moved up the ladder to managers of the area which I worked...
So yes if you want a great experiance, living away from home with great security and WORKING FOR DISNEY (what else could be better) than take a change (or let you childen go) and work for Disney...
I will say this... Working of Disney had being a Disney Super fan has made me not want to go anywhere else for my vacations.. )
Wow! I would love to do that once I turn 18.
Can you explain it to me a bit more, though?
Like, do you have to be enrolled in a college in the area, or what?
That definitely sounds really cool.
