Re: A of A
I walked the grounds there today with the kid. They are obviously still doing work on Little Mermaid...construction dumpsters are still on property, and even though the building decorations are up, they haven't painted the little mermaid mural on the film strip facing the lake.
The pool is indeed gated off, and requires an AoA room key for entrance (picture attached) No pool hopping for Pop guests! Also, their pools are far superior to Pops in terms of water features. Also, the hotel buildings and rooms are all indoors (no balconies or exterior doors/stairs/elevators like at Pop.
Otherwise, if you are even vaguely familiar with the look and layout of Pop, you will immedietly see the similarities between the resorts.
The food court looks amazing, and has a lot of different offerings then over at Pop. There are 4 "restaurants":
Soup, Salad and Sandwich Shop
Create your own salad (not really a salad bar, rather they assemble it for you as you instruct them what to put on)
Caprese Sandwich
Buffalo Style Turkey Sandwich
Pulled Pork Sandwich
World of Flavors
Tandoori Boneless Chicken Thigh
Tandoori Shell-on Shrimp
Tandoori Portuguese Sausage
Mongolian Grill Beef Stir Fry
Mongolian Grill Fish
Pizza and Pasta Shop
Create-Your-Own Pasta (similar to the Create your own salad concept)
Individal Cheese Pizza
Meatball Sandwich on Ciabatta
Individual Pepperoni Pizza
Burger Shop
Create-Your-Own Burger (Similar to the other "Create-Your-Own")
House-made Vegetable Burger
Chicken Burger
Surf & Surf Burger (fish sandwich with fried shrimp)
Pastrami Cheeseburger
They all look interesting, and I'm going to be doing them a lot for hotel dining. They stay upen until midnight, just like Pop does. Pop's food court carries a lot of the same items that Carribean does, so this variety is welcome to me. I also like the fact that Disney decided to do this since both hotels are easily within walking distance of each other over the bridge, and therefore it offers more choices to guests of both resorts.
I also attached some other pictures from my walk-through.
Enjoy!

I wonder if they have any rooms left? I have called several times and they didn't for the time I'm going sept 15-22.

LOL - so not really a "World" of flavors then - more "Two flavors".
This annoys me at WDW. Do they not realise that pizzas come with different toppings? Everywhere in WDW is the same old boring pizza!
Still, the resort does sound fun. Thanks for checking it out englanddg!
Great pics too!
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow

Re: A of A
LOL!
I like tandoori, but I don't like chicken thighs, sausage, or shrimp with the shell on. (I don't understand why anyone would want the hassle of shell-on shrimp.) Very disappointing selection from a potentially very interesting restaurant station. I like Mongolian beef, though.
Thanks for posting the info and photos, englanddg. We'll have to take a walk over there in October. And we're staying there in December.
Report back on the food you eat there, too. Sounds like an interesting selection for the most part (at least more interesting than the Pop).

Flavor! All the flavor is in the shell and the head so they need to be cooked shell-on.

Back on topic though (sorry!) the food court sounds a bit too Disney-ish for me. Promises much but delivers little (or at least seems to).

Re: A of A
My family stayed in the AoA Finding Nemo suites in June, just a week after they opened. We LOVED it. My husband and I had our own room AND BATHROOM!!! That was a huge deal for us. We had a small kitchenette, the kids had more than enough room for all their stuff, and service was great.
We have a lot of food allergies to deal with, so we were VERY happy with the food court. The Chef would come talk to us in the morning and by the end of the time we were there, he was calling us all by name.
We would stay there again, in a heartbeat!!! We were there for 3 nights/4 days. THe pool was AWESOME! IT's salt water filtered and has an underwater sound system. It got my kiddo, who is afraid of water, to actually put his face IN the water. Amazing!!
As much as we loved Nemo, we are looking forward to staying in Cars next time!!! =)
