Ok so I know you should always have reservations but has anyone ever went without one? What restaurant was it and did you get to eat there, if so how long did it take you to get a table? We have made our ressies but then I realized I added a night on so we have another meal to add. We want to go to O'Hana for dinner but there were no good times left. Suggestions?

When my parents went in April, I think it was, during the Flower and Garden Festival, they had a tough time walking in anywhere. They hadn't made any ADRs at all. I'll have to ask them what they ended up doing for food, but I think they ended up eating really late almost every night.
The last time I tried doing a walk-in, it was at Kona Cafe. The earliest reservation I could get was 9 p.m.

We did a walk in for AK's Tusker House Restaurant for lunch and we waited about 10 minutes. I have overheard or been told by CM's that they keep 3 to 4 tables available for walk-ins but I'm not sure if that is restaurant specific.

We used them to get us a walkup time at Boma at the AK lodge and at the Liberty Tree Travern at the MK for lunch. Both times this was done just hours before on the same day. These were last minute ideas that just popped into our heads. The desk was very happy to check these for us. In the case of Liberty Tree, we just asked them to check who had an opening at the MK and they gave us 3 choices to pick from.

We did 2 walk ins on our last trip. The first was at Kona Cafe for breakfast and we were seated right away but we ended up getting there at 7:30. Also we went to 50s Prime Time Cafe for lunch and waited about 5 mintes and that was around 12:30.

Ah - I'd forgotten about lunches.
We did a walk-up at the San Angel Inn at about 1pm. Despite lots of people hanging around with pagers and a very full looking dining room we got seated within 10 minutes.

Both of my experiences have been with the Garden Grill.
The first time was so long ago I do not even know if it counts, but we were in Epcot decided to try to eat at GG in the land, it was during lunch, hubby checked and we were given imediate ADR's for on hour later. Still during lunch and quite satisfactory to us.
The second time again with GG, we had just checked into our room, I called the provided number and was given an ADR on my preferred day. It was a very early lunch, but quite satisfactory, especially as I had not even known it was a Character lunch. It was our first one ever.
So, basically keep trying for your ADR, they might get a cancellation, then try once you arrive at Disney, they may have something for you then. But, make another ADR for somewhere else just in case.

Re: Walk ins anyone???
We usually do not have a problem walking up to a resturant. Friday and Saturday nights are hard. But we can usually get a walk up. We have waited anywhere from 10 to an hour for dinner. I think it just depends if you are willing to wait. Now I will warn that it is hard to get dinner walkups during events (ie Food & Wine, Candle light...). But we have never had a problem finding a resturant on disney property before. With over 400 there is always room.

I guess it would matter by the popularity of the place and the time of season you are going. When I went to Celliers I had a scheduled time and waited a few minutes. Another person walked up an asked how long is the wait for a service and it was responded with 2 and a half hours. That was last May 3rd week. One, Celliers is a good restaurant and two, always packed. Someone mentioned Tuskers in AK. We made arrangements that same day and got lunch. But what I had tasted I can't see a problem with a walk in. Nothing special about it. It was OK. Not excessively crowded. I guess the problem with a same day arrangement would be places people look foward with eating at, Narcoossee's, Jiko's, Celliers, Califoria Grill, etc etc.
We quite often do walk ins, usually for late afternoon / early evening, we've done it at the sci fi, prime time, the Rose & Crown at Epcot and a couple of others, we've never waited more than about 20 mins? I think though with the Disney Dining Plan these days those, walk ins are harder to come by?

I can offer three suggestions. First, if you are staying on property check with your concierge in the lobby. Last year I was able to score O'Hana reservations 2 days out for 6:30pm I was ready to eat anywhere and he was able to get me a table for 5 at prime time. If you can't get ADRs try to upsize your party to the next size table (i.e. if there are 2 of you try for a party of 3) this little tip from a cast member got us a table at the Yachtman's Steakhouse is year. Finally, if both of these tricks fail and you are forced to try and walk up try to arrive at the restaurant as soon as they open or switch to their dinner menu as this is when you have your best chance. I have used this one at Liberty Tree Tavern and Cape May Cafe more then once. Hope this helps.
