Firstly, it has to be the fresh, cool smell of the POR lobby. I just love that smell as you arrive first time, walk out of the humid Florida sunshine into that relaxed coolness and see everyone walking round in their shorts in the cool and airy lobby. I know my vacation has started at that point.
I also love the first ride to DTD - which we do on our first evening. We always arrive at around 6pm, unpack, shower, change and head for the boat to DTD where we grab a hot dog, stroll around for a while then head back for an early night (9pm in Orlando is actually 2am at home for us so we're just about ready for bed by then on our first night).
I love the WDW ads for various attractions as you drive around WDW too. The big ToT sign is my favorite - the one with the hanging elevator car that swings.
Then of course there's the WDW TV channel with that annoying screeching woman that runs on the resort TVs. You just have to watch it - endlessly!
And the drinks from POR food court in the freebie refill mugs.
The feeling of mild discomfort on the trams - never enough leg room (I'm 6' 2"), squeezed in with random strangers (plus sweaty kids and strollers) in far too warm weather to br cramming yourselves into such tight conditions. And all desperately trying not to rub knees - I really don't want to touch someone else's sweaty leg/arm, and I'm sure they feel the same about me! And yet the trams are so exciting as it means your Disney day is about to start!
The butterflies in your stomach on the first monorail trip to MK. There's something about the coolness of the interior and the views outside of all that Florida sun as you glide through the Contemporary and see Cinderella's Castle come into view - for us Brits is even better as it sounds all the more exciting hearing the recorded messages in the American accent - just great!
I'm sure there's loads more things I'll always remember. I'll come back and add more!

Haha i know those channels your talking about. The ones that always play same things over and over again like Walt Disney World countdown. Oh i also remember Discovery Island in Bay Lake. That was a cool place to go.
So guys what do you have. Lets keep this thread alive.

2. The EPCOT ball having the giant hand with the wand and saying 2000
I am FOREVER GRATEFUL that the horrid wand and hand is gone. Wow. What a mistake! Not as bad a the "birthday cake castle" but close....
My list:
1. This was the easiest one of all. The looks on my kids faces in the rear view mirror of our rental as we drove through the large WDW sign.
2. Checking in to my very first WDW resort - The Caribbean Beach Resort.
3. Taking the ferryboat from the TTC to Magic Kingdom for the first time. Now it's a tradition to do this for the very first trip in to MK each vacation.
4. My first Disney show - Hoop Dee Doo Revue
5. Riding in the front of the monorail. I'm so happy that both of my children have had a chance to do this since it will never happen again.
6. Trying to take a photo over the green wall around Expedition Everest (I'm 6' 5" tall ) and only getting a shot of..... a green wall. Apparently they thought of this too and erected a secondary partition just over the wall to prevent people from doing this. LOL
7. Finally getting my picture taken with my favorite Disney character of all time! Goofy of course.
8. Walking into the Japan pavilion in EPCOT and actually feeling (for a moment) that I was back in Okinawa. It was amazing. The smells, the merchandise, etc... wow.
9. When we first landed in Orlando we went to Enterprise to pick up our rental. I had reserved a Ford Explorer but when we got there we were given a Ford Expedition at no extra cost. Very nice.
10. Walking in to Sci-Fi Dine In and seeing my wife's jaw hit the floor. This became her favorite place to eat in all of WDW from that moment on. LOL
I always remember the excitment of just getting there(we always drive) seeing the big welcome to Disney World sign. I always love getting to see my room the past three trips we have stayed in different resorts so its always different for me. We always do Magic Kingdom on our first day. I dont feel like I am in Disney til I walk into MK and see the castle. It always brings me back to the first time I saw it in 2000 when I was 12. There are so many experiences that I will always remember and I hope to have more memorable experiences in the future.

Is it just me or did anyone else genuinely "laugh out loud" reading that?
That's just the kind of thing I do!

The first time the hubby and I went to WDW on our honeymoon. Neither of us had been there before and the magic was amazing.
The first time we took the kids. All of it. The looks on their faces, the awe from meeting the characters, everything.
The kids and hubby drinking the beverly for the first time. LOL
Spending Easter Sunday in Epcot and my daughter getting the last ticket to a special tea party with Alice, Mad Hatter, The White Rabbit and the Tweedle twins.
Spending that magical time at MK closing finding an out of the way place having ice cream and watching the castle change colors.

I have many many many memories of WDW but the most memorable is the Mickey mouse ear shaped power lines on interstate 4 just west of the main entrance i pass them every time i go, and its actually become a game to the family that the first person to spot the "ears" they get a souvenir... Also ive spent most of my stays in the camp ground around nightly outdoor BIG screen movies and roasting marshmallows in the camp fire...
Also couple more things.... Walking in the Wilderness lodge for the first time and pool hoping
